Discussion: Gunman Among At Least 2 Dead In Houston Shooting

Unfortunately, there’s “Breaking News” like this every day it seems.
I wonder how long before it is no longer breaking news but rather just another day in the neighborhood?

I’d say that when the second comment on a thread about another multiple shooting is over two hours after the story was posted, and when that story itself remains in the lower mid-section - which is an indication that not many people are clicking on it - then we’ve already reached the point where it’s just another day in the neighborhood.

“An armed society is a polite society.”

Well…someone didn’t get the memo, huh?

Wayne LaPierre asks that you send thoughts and prayers in the hopes that no innocent guns were harmed.

Absolutely correct. Sadly & tragically, in NRAmerica, the usual response today would be: “Texas? Only TWO dead? ~yawn!~”

I try not to say that I hate someone so I’ll say I have a serious antipathy for this despicable person.

Ok, I’m curious what makes me an idiot with poor reading comprehension skills?
I merely pointed out that I think LaPierre is a complete asshole and a foaming at the mouth gun nut.
I’m perplexed.

Sorry, just saw your re-post…I type slowly.

From the looks of things, it may have been a lawn mowing dispute.
Those are some lush green lawns for a state that was just in a severe drought.

People get pissed about mowing over your border or wild weed wacking. The busting out of steel is almost inevitable with all that neighborly interaction going on.
What else could they do, self propelled mowers at 20 paces, a hedge trimmer duel? Too unswarthy, it was guns before dishonor, to the death.
Because mowing matters.

Right. Already, these incidents have become “routine”, and belong in the daily news dept. - not the “breaking news”. We’re mostly numb to the overweening violence in this culture by now, or I am anyhow. Who the hell cares, unless you’re shot. Nobody, or at least no one can do anything about it. So, why care. I would be only frustrated trying to control this horror show which is out of control, everyone’s control. That’s how it seems to me. Next story …

Planned ambush of police responders? Who brings AR-15s for a robbery or an unanticipated dispute - even in Texas?

Fired shots at a police helicopter, too. In an area of town with one of the lowest crime rates.

Sooner or later we’ll be forced to consider that “well regulated” part of the Second Amendment.

“Armed with an AR-15 and a pistol, the main suspect left five bullet holes in a police helicopter circling over the active shooting scene.” Good thing he did not do this during Jade Helm.

Drought? Texas has been awash in rain the past year or so, and some towns near Houston got nearly 20 inches of rain this week.

I have the same sentiments concerning LaPierre!
Your posts were spot on.

  • I thought your comment was directed at me and I was confused…and my response was thoughtlessly off base. I owe you an apology. I didn’t look closely enough!

Bette Davis: “What we have is a failure to communicate!”

No apology is necessary, it is clear we misunderstood each other.
