Discussion: Gun Rights Activists Insists Target's Gun Ban Is 'Not A Ban'

I can’t believe that they don’t get why they can’t do what their doing. I’m with you. Target specifically said not to bring the guns into the store. Not to wait a month and come back. It is clear to me that Target doesn’t want them back at all. I sense that OCT is making up crap to defend themselves. When people with assault rifles roam about, why would anyone want to see that in public. I don’t care who you are, the idea makes sensible people freak and why shouldn’t they? I’m so tired of these guys and their dangerous nonsense. I live in Texas and there is a possibility that they might show up in my town doing the same thing. Call me a bitch, but I’m going to call the police immediately. They have to learn the hard way that no one wants to live in thier environment except them.

I agree. Stores routinely say “No shirt, no shoes, no service”, though being shirtless (for men) and barefoot are perfectly legal. They generally ban dogs, which are also perfectly legal. They can ban guns if they want.

Absolutely correct. And for grown men in congress both at the state and national level to put the public in danger and legislate a bad Rambo movie script just to stay in office is despicable.

Target and other retailers might get even more forceful about it if customers, when they spot someone in the store with a gun of any description, drop their purchases, tell the store employees that they won’t shop in any store where there are armed loonies, and walk out.

If you just keep throwing them out in front of as many people as possible, they’ll get the hint.

In its statement on Wednesday, Open Carry Texas warned that “businesses that have asked guests not to bring legally possessed, self defense firearms into their establishments have seen their employees and customers victimized by criminals preying on the openly defenseless.”

Where? Cites please.

One good thing about capitalism…money talks, customers carrying howitzers in Sears and causing the marks to run out with their hair on fire.walks.

After all…When Mustangs are outlawed, only outlaws will have Mustangs.

We are all, including Target, dealing with very dangerous and very disturbed children/adolescents.

Is there a Hobby Lobby store in Texas? Or maybe some other closely held, conservative, Christian business where gun yahoos might be welcome to parade themselves around?

Perhaps you missed the presser - ISIS aka ISIL is now simply IS or ISL

next week they will be IS-Puff Daddy - by October they will be simply the symbol that is Pat Robertson’s face on a can of magic weight loss shake mix

Have you seen the sharp increase in pork prices? It’s robbery!

Legislative indulgence of the open-carry fetish will be reversed only by dead kids and pissed-off cops.

As the action of all the chain stores and restaurants show, there is not a lot of support for widespread open-carry in practice. I believe (without support of any specific data) that there are a lot of people who consider themselves strong supporters of 2nd-amendment rights and who are not happy to see a lot of guns carried openly where they shop, eat, watch movies, etc.

Guns are already killing many kids, but those deaths have not been associated with open carry. School shootings are attributed to mental illness (or, to gun-free zones, but that reflects another form of mental illness, IMO). Kids finding loaded guns at home and killing themselves or other kids are viewed as a private matter. The open-carry accidents in Walmart and other public places have so far only wounded the gun owners, other adults, and merchandise. At least, I don’t recall any child victims.

There are other countries where people carry their long guns out in public without licenses all the time. Somalia, for example. It’s nice to know these knuckle draggers are trying to bring us in line with third world, lawless, war-ravaged countries

The next time you’re driving on the highway and see all the idiots on the road, imagine each with a firearm in his or her possession. If that doesn’t make you feel safe, I don’t know what will.

Man up, guys!

I’m sure Hobby Lobby will welcome you and your guns. It’s what Baby Jeezus would do.

Those gun-toting patriots look to me like they should spend much less time brandishing their shootin’ irons at Mickey D’s, and more time in a gun-free gym.

Thanks to the NRA for mutating the 2nd Amendment into a personal defense issue and a tool to violently overthrow the government.

The 2nd Amendment was simply there to create a well-regulated militia and had nothing to do with overthrowing our government, protecting oneself or hunting.

Now that we spend hundreds of millions a year on a standing military, we don’t need a “well-regulated militia” comprised of armed citizens.

Let’s get rid of it.

Where else would gun idiots go but Target? It’s built into the name FFS.

I’m thinking, Targets; pl., is more accurate.
