Reminds me of how the Protestants would strut their stuff in Catholic neighborhoods in Ireland, just to show them who’s the boss. God, it’s turning into a tinderbox. I live in Maryland, where there’s no open carry, thank God. We need to organize a tourism boycott of open carry states. I remember being in a sandwich shop in Sedona, Arizona, and the guy next to be had a gun on his hip. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

I don’t care what kind of qualifiers they add to their statement…they’re still a bunch of low-life ole’ white boys carrying guns and spitting idiot juice to get some kind of attention. By even considering going into a predominantly black neighborhood with this kind of historically ignorant show of force, they’ve forfeited any claim that this isn’t about anything racist in nature. And why exactly were they considering this particular neighborhood? REALly!
Reminds me of the Nazis threatening to march on Skokie, IL in a predominantly Jewish community way back. Mind you, they said there was nothing against Jews, of course…or so they’d have you believe. It was just about their Nazi and white-power Aryan pride that made them want to do it…there, of all places.

This is the same idiot thing as the TeaParty sending poll watchers to black neighborhoods in MS to intimidate Democratic voters. I wonder if they will be toting assault rifles, too? They plan to Stand Their Ground at the door and shoot anyone of color who dares to vote in the GOP primary runoff?

Well, since Open Carry Texas wants to share the fun and excitement of gun rights with everyone, and since a concealed handgun license is acceptable voter ID at the Texas polls, I have an idea that should please them to no end: Let’s hold a Gun Freedom Summer in Texas! Volunteers can target areas like the Fifth Ward, and help those who don’t have concealed handgun licenses to obtain them. Then the new licensees can schedule a march in the neighborhoods of Open Carry Texas members. Seeing the new gun rights enthusiasts gathered in their neighborhoods would fill Open Carry enthusiasts with pride in the success of their efforts. And they’ll be especially happy that the new licensees will be able to vote in November.
