Discussion: Green Day Chants At AMAs: 'No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA' (VIDEO)

You read my mind. Short of there being an undiscovered Barack Hussein Obama III

No but Ted Nugent will.

letā€™s wait until the ā€˜purity warsā€™ end.

Iā€™m not kiddingā€¦

Actually, our best hope is if people like you would knock it off with insulting people we need to come out and vote for our candidate. Recognize that your parentsā€™ generation said similar things about yours, and cut the shit with the ā€œcrybabyā€ and ā€œparticipation trophyā€ nonsense.

I dunnoā€¦Libertarianism has been trendy on college campuses for awhile now, as I am learning from my nieces and nephews. I humbly propose that the Libertarians did not have a ā€œfall in love with candidateā€ like Ron Paul this round. Rand wasnā€™t doing it apparently. I think those youngsters went over to the Bernie Camp for the big party and when he lost the primary they got pissed and gave a middle finger vote. The slightly older non-Libertarian youth vote that went to Bernie in the primaries either went third party or actually voted Hillary. I have no data on that, does anyone else? But it feels like they didnā€™t pay a lick of attention until the last minute and went with the reality tv star that kept appearing on their social media feeds since they never seem to get their faces away from it.

Not that it matters anymore.

Those youngsters, I hope they donā€™t have to learn this lesson the really hard way, you knowā€¦like boot camp.

If weā€™re not hearing and repeating these same chants this time in 2020, then weā€™ve failed. Itā€™s going to take a non-stop and relentless attack on the Trump presidency to turn back the tide.

Fake news. Disinformation. Astroturfing (from domestic and foreign sources). All of these are rampant on social media, which is where that age cohort gets itā€™s information.

Yeah. Rick Perry second in line at Trump Tower today to bend the knee and kiss the ring on the fake tan hand. Rick Perry. Big time talent. Total drain the swamp blow up the establishment type of talent. Secessionist dabbler. Plus, he digs ballroom dancing.

Nah, sorry to say, Obama is a once in a generation or two kind of guy.

And its those rust states that will feel the greatest impact since corporations in those states have right to work and/or have already busted up unions and hired cheap imported labor to improve their bottom line.

yeah, no. I was a Bernie supporter as well, Mack Daddy. Staunchly in his camp. However, it never dawned on me to betray the Muslims, Mexicans, African-Americans and all the other minorities in my community or country, because I was a pissed off white person, who felt slighted by a bullshit narrative that Bernie was somehow robbed. Thatā€™s all your generation did by abandoning Mrs. Clinton, and the democrats. You left the Muslims, Latinos, and every other minority to fend for themselves, and put them in danger. You should take some responsibility for that, like grown-ups do. Yet, here you are ordering people to be nice to you, or else? Youā€™re only proving my point, champ. I was never a fan of Mrs. Clinton, but I am a steadfast supporter of civility and decency to every walk of life. You and your generation callously threw that aside because your feewings were hurt.

How about 2018?

Agree, Booker has the charisma and life story to potentially be Obama II, or Biden II. Also will need to keep an eye on Sen. Kamala Harris, though I have a soft spot for sassy, brassy Red State Sen. Claire McCaskill (Iā€™m betting she skips re-election campaign in 2018 ā€“ let Kander take another shot at it ā€“ and starts a 2020 campaign)

Iā€™ve always had a feeling about Green Day: that they got Burton suits and think itā€™s funny turning rebellion into money. You know, punkertainment ā€“ just this side of Blink-182.

So itā€™s nice to see Billie Joe take a stand on something. He needs to hone his attack a bit to be more effective, but go man go. Itā€™d be great to see them put out a hard-hitting album soon.

I wasnā€™t there, but IMO chanting doesnā€™t do much good, especially if the chant is all negative. Trump is here to stay for the indefinite future, might as well face it and decide what we want instead.

Their latest album is fantastic - total surprise, as I thought their better days were done.

A couple points of clarification: I am neither a millennial nor someone who voted for Bernie. I did, however, proudly vote for Clinton (as did my wife, who is a millennial, and every other under-35 yr old I know).

So while you claim to be a ā€œsteadfast supporter of civility and decency,ā€ you seem quick to make uninformed judgments about others. This is not helping the cause. We liberals always do this after a major loss - pick fights with each other instead of focusing on the real problem at hand (the impending horror of a Trump presidency). So, in trying to not be hypocritical, Iā€™m not going to continue arguing with you about this.

A continual effort to insult people we need on our side is NOT how we get them on our side. It seems like a really, really poor strategy for future electoral success. So perhaps we cut with the entirely stereotypical characterization of millennials as whiny and sensitive (which, chillingly, feels like how Republicans talk about Democratsā€¦), and start working toward ensuring this disaster only lasts 4 years.

Trigger warnings, safe places, 38 different gender identities, gamergateā€¦

Sometimes I wonder if liberals are the ones living in a bubble. Of course he has a real shot at being reelected. All he has to do is become just another GOP president, which he appears to be doing.

I truly donā€™t care. Maybe that feels good, to have oneā€™s point proven on the Internet, but I have more important concerns. You all are focusing on feelings (whether or not they exist or matter). I am worried about losing health coverage for my family. I am worried about my family and friends and whether they can continue to marry those whom they love. I am worried about whether people are going to be deported for the color of their skin or their religion. I am worried for the gutting of the social safety net. I donā€™t care if I proved someoneā€™s point on the Internet. I want to win elections, because I donā€™t want to see everything progressive in this country get torn down. And insulting people (whom we need to vote blue) is not helping further those goals.
