Discussion: Grassley Rewarded After Kavanaugh Fight With Trump Lifting Ethanol Limits

Well Grassley’s kids will… thanks to the Trump tax cuts. Estate tax what?

They never wanted the ethanol and would like to see it go away.

Because there’s not enough profit for the old fossils who own and run the Grand Old Party.

Good ad for Iowa going forward.

We lived and have good friends there. I hope they figure it out.

Well, that’s what I would have thought.

From your description, it’s such a boondoggle requiring such energy and petrochemical inputs that one might have thought they learned to live with it.

Thanks.

Gotta wonder how much Grassley has stashed away in the Caymans or the Cook Islands.

Out of reach. No matter what, for a long time.

It displaces about as much fossil fuel as it requires for production, so that’s a bit of a wash, and there is probably greater seasonality in the farm demand than in gasoline demand.

The ethanol requirement meant the addition of the blending equipment and a lot of modifications of fuel storage/handling equipment all the way to the nozzle at the service station.

Thank you.

A ray of hope for California.

The president’s isolation is not just from the world: In California, New York, Massachusetts and other states, governments and companies are pushing ahead with regulations and technological innovations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

That bottom-up activism is a source of hope for those who have watched in despair since last year when Mr. Trump declared he would pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord. But experts say it is no substitute for the world’s largest economy, and second-largest emitter of carbon dioxide, turning its back on the fight.

And “quid pro quo” has so many negative connotations…

Kav thanked Grassley, McConnell, and a few others Rs and Manchin in a speech right after his confirmation. Oh, and of course, highest praise to the occupant for the lifetime job paying $255K a year for which he’ll show his gratitude vote after vote after vote ad infinitum.

Years ago I remember George Will complaining that ethanol was promoted by lefties.

When you’re converting food into automobile fuel, that should be a really big, humongous hint that you’ve lost your way.

“I want more because I don’t like $74,” Trump said referring to the current price of a barrel of crude oil. “If I have to do more — whether it’s through ethanol or another means — that’s what I want. I want low prices.”

That’s hat tRump says today, by tomorrow the Oil industry folks will be back in his ear and he will swing the other way. Grassley got his pay-off, but tRump will find a way to take it back.

Poor Chuck has no idea of wtf he’s dealing with.

So Grassley got his payoff.

Figures.

Barack Obama won Iowa in 2008 by pushing ethanol as a fuel supplement.

Trump is just throwing stuff out there to appease his Not-So-Loyal-After-All natives before the Midterms. None of it makes any sense and it will backfire on Republicans before 2020.

But then all Russian Mafia hoods live in the moment, right? Dumb asses don’t dare think about what’s coming down the pike towards them at an increasingly pace. Always brazen it out until you can no longer escape your fate.

what an a##, but that’s Donald.
And really, Grassley needs to be put out to pasture - without government subsidies for his “farm”

Add in the tariff damage to the farmers and it’s another right hand, left hand cluster from this clueless administration.
