Very disheartening, and among a certain subset of Sanders supporters, not uncommon. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to correct people who said that Bill Clinton created DADT. No, sorry, go back in time and you’ll see that Clinton wanted gay people to serve openly in the armed forces - fairly radical in 1993. It was Democratic senator Sam Nunn who blocked it and eventually stuck us with Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Bill Clinton wasn’t perfect, and some of his policies had unintended consequences, like the various crime bills. But there’s no way that any of those bills can be amended or overturned if a short-fingered vulgarian is elected.
I’m sorry, but he’s OK with TRUMP selecting a freaking SCOTUS nominee??
Ok, at this point I’m just calling out blatant racism on Grassley and McConnell’s part. Their stance on the SCOTUS nominations makes absolutely no freaking sense in any other way. Now that they have control of the Senate, they just will not allow that “uppity black man” to get another SCOTUS member in.
Chucky compared to you a fence post is a theoretical physicist.
“There’s no problem with Trump appointing people to the Supreme Court,” Grassley told the Associated Press.
“In fact, if he names someone now, we’ll go ahead and vote to confirm,” the senator said.
I was at a loss for words to be honest. And if I didn’t shut it down and say I can’t continue this conversation and literally walk away it was going to get ugly. Yes, 70-80% of black voters are all “Uncle Tom’s” because they support Clinton (rolls eyes). Never mind that Sanders voted for the crime bill, and wanted to increase incarceration rates for powered cocaine in order to make it “more fair” etc. etc.
My co-worker really should know better. But she is so wedded to Sanders and emo-left tropes at this point, it’s almost as if she is in need of deprograming.
Amazing.
Back to Grassley, Listen up, Iowa!!
Your senator needs to retire!
Please help the man out!
Didn’t he say he would nominate Ted Cruz?
It might as well be SATAN.
Someone tell me if I am correct on the following possible scenario: trump is elected president but the senate falls back into the hands of the democrats. Grassley has insisted on holding out on the Supreme Court nomination but losses his chairmanship position on January 3. The New Democratic controlled senate confirms president Obama’s nomination on jan 5. Trump becomes president on 20 Jan.
Keep it up you old crank. We’ll flip you out of your supposedly safe seat and back onto the farm (or K-Street) yet.
And the fact that Sanders voted for the 1994 crime bill is just something something something. I know the excuse people make but still, I have to believe that if Sanders (like many others, including the CBC) had an inkling of the full consequences they would have asked for changes. In other words, hindsight is 20/20, and that goes for all of us.
Calling African American voters Uncle Toms is inexcusable. It also more or less validates what many African Americans probably intuited about how many of Sanders’ supporters view them, and why they didn’t vote for him.
Do your job, you fucking hack,
Exactly. I was flabbergasted to be honest. To say nothing about how uncomfortable and inappropriate that language here at the office was/is.
After all, he has announced the head of his transition team.
The only thing that is clear from Chuckels comments is that he has actually declared this to be a partisan charade. As long as it is an extreme conservative he is O. K. With that.
For the first time in our history we are actually referring to a Justices of the Supreme Court as Republican or Democrat. No good can come from this. The Republicans in the Senate are, as each day passes diminishing the standing of the Court. It is truly UnAmerican.
In what fantasy world is Grassley living that Trump would ever pick a SOTUS nominee!
As well as diminishing all aspects of government attributing to the discontent and anger tearing our society apart. You are absolutely correct this is very anti american behavior. I thought these were the same people that believe in American Exceptionalism, the greatness of America, yet they support the guy that says America is not great and he will, through his super powers, make America great again.
