The real story here is that Graham actually thinks there’s somehow another side to the Republican party. Is there a subset of the GOP that doesn’t represent the lowest common denominator in our society? It seems like that would be kind of hard to find within a party built around catering to assholes, bigots, racists and the true believers of bullshit trickle-down nonsense.

Just dealt with a close relative and she doesn’t accept the birth certificate and can name nothing that would actually prove Obama’s citizenship. These “true” believers are in complete denial with any objective reality.

(Of course, as they will never grasp, it wouldn’t matter a damn if he HAD been born in Kenya. His mother was an American citizen, and therefore so was he, constitutionally. Ted Cruz was born in Canada. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone. But this has never been about the Constitution… it’s always been about the deep belief of the GOP base that brown people are a dangerous Other and cannot really be American.)

You could travel back in time with them, make them stand in the delivery room at the time of Obamas birth, in Hawaii, and then have Jesus Christ Himself return to Earth wearing an “Obama was born on U.S. soil” t-shirt and they still wouldn’t believe it.
I have a relative (not related by blood thank God!) who claimed she knew Obama was a Muslim because he refused to take a photo with the Israeli PM. I pulled out my iPad and showed her a Google image search result showing dozens of images of Obama meeting with Netanyahu.
Her response?
“No. No, those are all fake”.
