Appealing to the old man’s ego. Graham knows this POTUS is dumb as bucket of rocks. Ya right , if Trump is so smart why did he hire the flim flam man as his personal attorney. The guy who said publicly he is Trump’s fixer.

Palates of Depends are flying out of Costco as we speak.

I thought you’d signed an NDA about that episode?

So I guess we’re okay with a president we have to beg not to break the law, just so long as we get our goodies.

And let’s keep after the famous Watergate question: “What did the president know, and when did he know it?” https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Politics/Decoder/2014/0626/Howard-Baker-the-real-story-of-his-famous-Watergate-question .

The cover-up is just as bad as the crime and Trump may well have known a lot.

Repugnican response to U:

’ Murrican exceptionalism’

“The bottom line is I’m not worried about Trump firing Mueller, because I think he’s smarter than that,”

Ugh. I just don’t want to think about Lindsey Graham. Lots of novelists try to fake you out with an inconsequential-seeming nebbishy character who surprises you by being consequential in the end. But in real life it seems more that the inconsequential types, the wishy-washy equivocators, tend to find their level and stay there. Which is kind of boring actually. I’d rather think about Rod Rosenstein. He did a nebbishy thing with the Comey assessment, and then he turned out to be pretty badass after all. If he hangs in there we should probably do a statue of him somewhere.

He certainly wouldn’t notice it on CNN.

Graham also said this about his buddy.

“He doesn’t believe he did anything wrong with the Russians and I tend to believe him,” Graham said on CBS’ Face the Nation. “He can’t collude with his own government. Why do you think he is colluding with the Russians?”

I think it’s inappropriate for the president to testify publicly. But if you’re so obsessed about it, I know you’re frustrated,” Graham said. “But Mr. President let’s don’t make a circus out of your presidency. If you want to come to the Judiciary Committee and testify under oath we will put Comey right by you.”

It’d be the highest-rated TV show in the world,” Graham said, apparently in hopes of discouraging the former professional wrestling guest star and host of The Apprentice from continuing to offer his testimony. “But it’s not good for our democracy.”

“The fact that he settled the claim and didn’t tell the President is kind of out there,”

When did that attempted cover up rise to the level of a fact?

"we’ll see over time.”

Now speaking in Trumpian dialect.

Graham is 100% on board.

I might as well have thought he was trolling if it hadn’t been Graham saying that.

But it was Graham.

Dammit, moron. What do you worry they have on you?

Democratic response to that: please proceed.

“I don’t want to anger Trump’s mouth-breathing base, so I’m going to sit here and really, really hope I’m not required to take any kind of stand while subtly pleading to President No Puppet to not do anything stupid, although he only does stupid things.”

Oh god Ms. Lindsey…show some gumption boy!

Give Lindsey some credit, that’s misleading but it’s also mildly amusing.

Graham Doesn’t Think Trump Will Fire Mueller: ‘I Think He’s Smarter Than That’

Wanna take a bet on that Senator?

Oh hell -

‘Give Lindsey some polonium’ instead

“The bottom line is I’m not worried about Trump firing Mueller, because I think he’s smarter than that,” Graham said to CNN’s Kate Bolduan.

No. No, he’s not. He is a malignant narcissist who’s in a panic right now, because he knows he’s guilty and a lot of the evidence was in Cohen’s possession.

Grassley and Graham (and Ryan and McConnell, not to mention a whole lot of other high-ranking Republicans and White House staff) have to know that Trump’s dirty. There’s no other way to read the public evidence. I’m not sure what their endgame is, though, because they’re walking that fine line between calling the President a crook and supporting his criminality. My guess is that they’re secretly hoping that Trump goes down without taking the party with him, but they know that is a tricky thing to accomplish. It will take both houses of Congress looking the other way plus a boost from the courts, which they know they control the top of. We truly live in interesting times.

Replace “fact” with “implausible and unbelievable assertion”

Or, maybe you weren’t interepreting the last five words correctly, as in

“The fact that he settled the claim and didn’t tell the President is kind of out there,”

Yeah, it is kinda out there. Waaay out there.
