I’ve encountered ol’ Slade on a number of occasions going back to the 70s when he was Washington state AG. I most recently saw him about 10 years ago. Nothing has changed - including his clothes - just being in the same room with him gives me an overwhelming need to bathe. I will give him credit for putting the screws to MLB and leading to the creation of the Seattle Mariners, but that’s about it. Now I’ve got to go wash my hands…

I think there are three basic possibilities with respect to Trump’s wiretapping claims:

  1. The claims are simply standard Trumpian pure fiction, invented with the help of Breitbart garbage.

  2. They have a kernel of truth, but are doubly distorted. First, while there is a FISA warrant, it centers on communications with two Russian banks and does not involve “wiretapping” of Trump Tower. Second, “Obama” couldn’t order anything of this sort–it would have been the FBI.

  3. There are two kernels of truth, but it is singly distorted. The false part remains Obama’s role; this would have been legally done. But perhaps Trump knows about or has even seen evidence that the FBI has intercepted communications between Trump or his aides and Russian officials. This would be very interesting and raises the question of who could obtain such inside information. Bannon perhaps?

Bill Hemmer noted that Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), the House Oversight Chairman, said earlier on the network that the Obama administration had “been notorious on this type of stuff.”

If I were a smart conservative living in the UTAH (not Nevada as I originally wrote) Third and had a desire to be in Congress, I think I would see this as my opportunity to primary Chaffetz. Chaffetz has gone ‘all in’ on Trump who did not hit 50% of the vote in his Congressional district. Chaffetz is young; if he’s not taken out this time, he may be there for 20 more years.

Given that Trump’s whole presidency is based on a lie, why should this lie be regarded differently. Remember, those “credible sources” who told him that President Obama was born in Kenya. Oh, yes, that went on for 5+ years. This is more of the same.

Geesh – take a look at the link in the article to “Pig-Face” Chaffetz on FOX – they are intent on making the entire thing about Obama and discrediting and hobbling every institution that challenges them and can act as a check on Trump. This is the Mercer/Bannon playbook – and Trump is their vile tool. Bannon says it outright – their intent is deconstruction of the democratic norms of government – all except the military with they will build up and control – so they can “freely” pillage the world without interference.
