Okay…but people ARE being jailed for being unable to pay court fines and probationary fees, which they have no hope of being able to repay. Being poor is very much a crime in America these days.
Well of course we do not have a debtor’s prison, because every seven years, we practice the remission of debts, as the Bible says to do, because it’s what this country was founded on.

So you won’t be put in jail for failing to pay the loan, you’ll just be put in jail for missing a court date (or which you may or may not have been aware) or for failure to comply with a court-ordered payment plan, or for failure to pay court-order fees in connection with your case.
