She must have been really something (biting hand) in high school but the blue doesn’t work here. You’re right, a stylist would make a difference. She’s attractive and middle-aged. A stylist would know what to do. My wife would call it age-appropriate look.
Sadly in almost every public appearance a women’s looks are brought up and made a part of the issue regardless of how irrelevant it is to the conversation or subject. With a man it would not be an issue unless the original subject was supposed to be his looks.
Then again, I do notice that women on TV, like local news folks, really do seem to wear very tight clothing these days. I mean this does seem weird to see her belly button so well.
Hey, some morons tweeted it, so it’s got to be the leading story today, all day. Journamalism in the 21st c!
OMG, guys, a stylist? She’s the governor. She probably had some things to say about the state of her state that did not involve an analysis of her boobs or her undergarment choices. Whether she wore a royal blue dress, a deep burgundy dress, or jeans and a plaid shirt are irrelevant. When she changes careers and is modeling for “Middle-aged Playmate,” I guess you can carry on about stylists and Spanx. Meanwhile, how is the great state of MI getting on? I believe her predecessor tried to poison the children of the state with lead in an effort to “cut costs” and “balance the budget.” I’m pretty sure she has a vision of MI for a better future that does not relate to her boobs. And if she gains or loses 10 pounds, I don’t want to hear about that either.
The right wing has convinced itself that all Dem women are ugly, old, unsexy, ugly, wrinkly, old … They can’t take cognitive dissonance - nor the evidence of their eyes.
What do you expect? FOX News affiliate.
And in similar case…
Fox News is a threat to the republic. Seditious and sometimes treasonous. They’re also misogynistic enough to make a man of the 1950s take notice.
Although in this case it may have been color more than anything else!
Absolutely. I’m not in love with the idea that this is unfair and superficial but oh well that’s how life is. Assume a virtue, if you have it not, society in 2019. Just pretend we hire governors to do governor stuff, not as models and fashion experts. Pretend that we think it’s unfair and superficial to the point that we don’t even talk about it. Because that’ll change things more quickly than saying “oh well” will.
With an undergarment like Spanx (as I mentioned in my post above) she would have looked fabulous. The chatter would have been about how fabulous she looked (even though that’s inappropriate too imho). It’s actually a really nice dress. The color is beautiful. She needs a stylist.
And yet how her dress fits is a distraction that could have easily been avoided.
Yeah, Stone needed a stylist in the picture shown here where his gut was showing but you didn’t hear women or men talking about wanting to hit that.
He needs help too. Sorry guys, I just think when you are in the public eye, especially elected office, appearance matters. It may seem unfair but it’s just the way things are and you navigate the waters as they are not how you would like them to be. Whitmer, could have, for instance, wore a nice two piece navy suit with minimal accessories, perhaps a scarf, and nailed it. All the chatter would have been about what she said in her speech and not about her appearance, like we’re doing now. There are ways women can neutralize discussion about their appearance.
I’m pretty sure that no matter what she wore, there would have been critiques of the outfit, her figure, etc. You know, Gov. Newsom had some things to say about CA this week. I don’t recall any commentary about the visible-through-his-clothes outline of his genitalia, or even the cut of his suit or fashion points on his tie. There is no reason on god’s green(ish) earth that either of them should be judged on their fabulous, or not, bodies or whether Spanx might improve it.
I kind of dislike this response. A woman should wear a seriously constrictive undergarment so that no one is offended by her body? Naaaa.
She’s statuesque. She’s healthy. There’s nothing grotesque about her.
Also, spanx SUCK. I wore them once when I had a similar dress. ONCE. I (then) had a petite version of her body. That thing was so damned annoying. Also, they have a tendency to roll down or up at the most inopportune moment. Wouldn’t that have given them something to talk about!

this means to both dems and republicans that they are worthless and must be silent
jersey is an unforgiving material and i never wear it
This is a game women can’t win. No matter what their appearance is, it going to attract scrutiny and no matter what they wear, someone is going to have a problem with it.
So why bother playing this game at all? And hiring a stylist is playing the game.
