Is there a case to deport him?
It’s like carrying around a neon sign that says “I’m a prima donna”. The only two situations where “Dr.” is a perfectly normal form of address for a PhD are:
- some sort of university function
- undergrads filling in the title page on an essay or assignment (“History 101; Dr. Fothingbottom”)
At the hospital where I work there are a handful of PhD’s scattered about – maybe 1/8th of those with PhD’s – who insist on the title, which seems even more arrogant in a healthcare setting given the implications. Most of us just refuse to address them as such. I admit I get a sick thrill from doing so, kind of like how I’d feel addressing POTUS 45 as “Donald” and seeing him grow irritated because I didn’t say “Mr. Trump”.
So why is he still around, if he’s for all intents and purposes useless? Who’s his patron who insists on his continued presence?
No wonder he and Donald get along so well. And if he thinks Donald is great for the country, counterterrorism isn’t the only thing he’s not an expert in.
Why waste time on information about this Hungarian fascist. He just an asshole buddy of the Asshole-elect. Sad.
“His level of expertise does not match the level where he stands in the White House,” Sloan told CNN,
Has the Professor taken into account that we are talking about the Trump White House here?
Well, actually Herr (or Frau) Professor Doctor means you have in fact actually got a document saying you are entitled to use the title “Professor”. If you don’t have the document, you (and others) are not allowed to use it. It’s not always a job title, but in the case of a university (regular) professor, you have the title for life and it’s a social status thing. If you’re adjunct, you have a few years as Privatdozent and then you might get the title Professor during the rest of your time there, but you lose it when you don’t teach for the university anymore. Thus, those who are designated as Professor auf Lebenszeit, i.e., for life have the highest social status.
Why make things easy??
I don’t understand why any self-respecting tv network would have this guy on the air. He’s not an expert on counter-terrorism. In fact, he has far greater claim to be a Nazi than a doctor.
Interesting, I earned a Pd.D but have not used it outside the formal need to provide this information to the university which employed me. I say: Thank you for Donnie Two Scoops. In my world Gorka is a bitter vegetable!
CNN has proved time and again that it is incapable of maintaining standards. Look at some of the clowns who get a seat on their panels. If Fox does not grab him CNN surely will.
Nazi bitch gotta go!

Draw this Terrorist!
He did! From his “PhD thesis”:
I actually read his thesis (not recommended). As a scientist myself, he would be laughed out of any reputable university for this ridiculous piece of crap. It is basically a run-on sentence defining terrorism, which anyone can look in the dictionary for a definition thereof. No Methods, Results, but it does have a Conclusion: more BS (what a joke!):
"Subsequently it is hoped that the policy elites will recognise the contribution
political science categorizations and recommendations can have and will
recognize that existing national security architectures must be refocused so as to
be made able to function effectively across the international arena with the
agencies of other countries. Only in this fashion will we are to be able to
manage the transnational threat that is transcendentally-informed political
violence. "
Gorka is a fraud and a poseur. Without his Mitteleuropa mystique to buttress his pretensions he’d be vacuuming the corridors of powers instead of prowling them.
@nymund Don’t forget the British accent, and the bullying baritone delivery. First time I heard him on NPR, months ago, I missed the intro, and listening to his spiel I thought (actually I said aloud as the morning’s coffee took effect): “Who is this over-bearing, arrogant asshole?!” Having learned of his existence in this forum, the subject matter led me to the inevitable conclusion, and to the utterance of a number of words my mother warned me against using. My opinion of him has not improved since.
ETA: Good friends have two bulldogs, both of whom would be an improvement around the WH. They might even be better Hungarians.
-sniff-sniff-
Damn, it smell like someone left a gorka in the living room.
Seth Meyers said Gorka is the sound you make when a burp turns into vomit. Apropos!
You nailed him. Gorka is alarming close to being a perfect caricature.
He may be a bulldog, but he’s no Ph.D .
He needs to be expatriated and sent away.
