Which is a dog whistle to the far right that says all jihadists are working together in tight coordination with the primary goal destroying “Christian Civilization”. A claim that has about as much evidence as other far-right conspiracies like the Illuminati and FEMA death camps.
That’s not to say that Jihadists aren’t evil bastards. They kill civilians on purpose and enslave women. But they’re hardly a coherent movement whose prime goal is our deaths. And they’re far from this country’s biggest problem. No, their biggest threat is to the populations that live among them and under them, not to us. And we should help those populations in sensible ways. Gorka’s right-wing fever dreams, however, are quite certain to lead to (attempted) solutions that are anything but sensible.

The thing is, the lapel pin he is wearing in the picture accompanying this article doesn’t look to me anything like the medal he wore for the inauguration (although that picture is blurred.) Neither of those look like the lapel pin he’s wearing in the picture here.
So my question still stands: What the hell is it? And why not an American flag?
