Not quite true. The bitter irony is that Tony died during one. But McConnell made it clear that that one will be the last one of this Congress.
Which is totally wrong, of course. It is outrageous that the Senate even continues to hold sessions and hearings with a mere 307 days left until the next Congress is sworn in. They should stop all this activity and let the American People decide whether we should ever have any more laws.

They havenât learned not to screw around with President Obama. They may have gone to state their purely partisan case, but they are really setting themselves up to lose control of the Senate.

Just goes to show once again how seriously yurtle takes threats from the likes of the Heritage Foundation. Remember it was the Heritage Foundation that threatened the senate majority republicans NOT to cave on shutting down the government.
THe GOP wants the SCOTUS to remain siding with corporations 80% of the timeâŚdo we the voters want that same thing?

There is something here that does not pass the smell test. Grassley and Ditch McConnell have betrayed their promise to the Republican caucus.
The Rs canât even consider doing this until theyâve set their nom, then theyâll like go off whatever their nom decides.
If the Râs nom Drumpf, that COULD allow McConnel et al to try to deal for a moderate. But itâs still hard to foresee that happening before the general, unless this presidentâs choice is one of the Alitio-like ternites in the DC district or appeals courts (which ainât happening).
Once Drumpf is cooked, McConnell will map out using the outgoing R senator try for The Best They Can Get during 11 week of lame duck / transitional period between the general in early Novemer and the Hillaring in late January.
If the Rs were to nom a Cruzbio, thatâs it forsure until at least the lame duck session. And once the Cruzbio loses, the lamentations-filled Drumpf-koffs plus the Angry Bird bas, IMO up with cooperating in seating ANY Oâchoice for SCOTUS will not put.
I hope we have a new episode of SCOTUS-themed Kabuki theater every week or so, but I suspect this first one will be deemed by McConnell to have gone so nowhere for their purposes, I really donât expect an orderly revival.
Time to bait and mock them unmercifully, Mister President and Mister Veep - we know you will!

Hopefully that wonât be up to Mitch or the GOP. Better question, âif you end up being minority leader after GOP loses the senate majority in November, do you agree not to filibuster once the people have spoken for President Clinton or Sanders? Or will you continue to move the goalposts and act against the will of the people because you donât like the outcome, as you have since January 2009.â

I can see it now, Trump gets the GOPâs nomination and McConnell comes running back to President Obama begging for a candidate and he declines and says he will let Hillary make it.

There are likely 3 more nominations for the next President beyond this one. This gets uglier and uglier for the GOPers. Trump will be their guy. I hope he gets his head and ass handed to him in the general. And that down tickets go democrat to a person.

McConnell and Grassley explain to the President that while historically, there has never been a problem confirming a Supreme Court justice in an election year this is different. The other Presidents were white.
