Not true! There are very few independents in Congress.
âI think God belongs in religious institutions: in temple, in church, in cathedral, in mosque â but not in Congress,â said Cohen.
I completely agree. Pray at home or in the church of your choice to your heartâs content. Thereâs just no need to do it publiclyâŚunless youâre more interested in impressing your fellow man with your ârectitudeâ than the Almighty -whoâs wise to your game.
Not to nit pick but scores of these moral marvels are IGNORING their oaths of office to defend and protect the ConstitutionâŚwhether they invoked God in the process or not.
OhâŚthatâs so previous SCOTUS. Precedents donât matter anymore to this bunch of radicals garbed in judicial robes. Who knows how they might rule if this ever gets to their court.
GOPers Are Upset That Dems Have Cut âSo Help Me Godâ From Swearing In Oath
âI am a sinner, I make mistakes every single day, but I do think that we could use a little more of God, not less,â said Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA).
Fine, Mr. Graves, and I agree. Go into a closet, in the dark, and spend as much time as you need with God. But I donât think youâre going to like it much.
Is she still alive?
Better an oath without reference to God that a person upholds than one with God that the person ignores. Crew on that, GOP.
Too damn bad. Not everyone believes in certain gods or in a god at all, and despite the rhetoric this country absolutely was NOT founded on any religion. I realize the religious zealots in this nation will get their knickers in a twist at the mere thought of not being able to force their beliefs on the rest of us in every possible way, but if they truly revered the Constitution they profess to love they would shut up.
Excellent work. Iâve never seen that before, but I know exactly what it depicts.
âI am a sinner, I make mistakes every single day, but I do think that we could use a little more of God, not less,â said Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA).
look at the time.
So what does plastic Jesus water taste like anyways?
Cilantro.
âIn God We Trustâ was not put on US Currency until 1954 (during the Red Scare) which was also when the words of the America the Beautiful were changed to add in a reference to God.
All of the writings of our Founding Fathers stated that Religion should be kept OUT of Governmental Procedures.
The âswearing upon the Bibleâ before giving testimony is a hold-over from the Inquisition where it was assumed that if you told a lie that God would strike you down for it (and they could then levy a âBlasphemyâ charge against you and execute you for THAT assuming you got out of the actual trial alive.)
Fuck these Christio-Fascists. We have Freedom OF and Freedom FROM Religion in this country. Keep it that way.
There is NO LAW that says you must say anything like âSo help me Godâ during ANY Governmental procedure. It is merely a âtraditionâ held over from the days of Christian Tyranny in the US during the Red Scare.
George Washington ad-libbed âso help me Godâ at his first inauguration and it caught on. I agree that it shouldnât be mandated, nor should our currency say âin God we Trust,â nor should the Pledge of Allegiance include âunder God.â
But I question the political wisdom of picking these fights.
Which variant of the OR6A2 gene do you possess?
When I walk into a Mexican restaurant it smells like a Palmolive soap factory.
That would be the classic description - I find it tastes like dirt in large amounts, but do not react strongly to the smell.
Genetic variation is endlessly fascinating!
