Discussion: GOPer Portman: If GOP Takes Senate, I 'Suspect' Obamacare Repeal Vote Early

Discussion for article #227556

What an idiot. Didn’t he get the memo? That is soooo yesterday.

Oh Rob the reason you guys haven’t come up with a repeal plan is because none of your ideas work and and any plan that would actually work looks too much like Obamacare.

Now there is some deep thinkin’…“I think we should…I think we should…”

Please say that louder, Senator.

Don’t forget that Mitch McConnell says that tens of thousands of Kentucky citizens who now have Kynect will have Kynect after Obamacare is repealed. Neat trick considering Kynect cannot exist without Obamacare.

““But I think we ought to also spend more time on the replacement side of that and the Republican approach has never been just repeal it’s also always been 'lets get rid of this but lets replace it with something that does replace it with does deal with the very real problem in our health care system and that is increased costs and the lack of coverage,” Portman said.”

Oh really?? When exactly was that, because every time I saw a republican questioned about their replacement for obamacare, they always looked like deer caught in the headlights of a fast moving 18 wheeler.

"I suspect we will vote to repeal early, to put on record the fact that we Republicans think it was a bad policy and we think it’s hurting our constituents.

If so, they will fail for the
#55th time* in four years.

*an estimate cost of $1.45 Million per vote = $79,750,000 flushed down the drain.

“Just in terms of the federal programs it’s over $50 billion over ten years and much more than that when you add the private sector so there’s some areas here where I think you can find some common ground that we talked about,” Portman said.

If that were the case they would have voted on the things you all agree on already.
Repubs are not interested in compromise right now. They are not interested in a common ground. They are not interested in anything that can be seen as working with Dems. And him thinking that with a GOP Majority that the Dems who oppose such changes now would magically see it differentlly is delusional.
I know people like to say the Dems are weak and wimps but I don’t think the Dems will roll over easily if they lose the Senate. I suspect it will be payback for the years they’ve had to put up with GOP stunts and constant filibusters. It won’t be flowers and candy.

Oh, yeah. There have been just tons of serious, viable, alternatives proposed by Senate Republicans. Can you name one, Senator?

And what will we replace it with? PORTMANCARE!

It’s just like Obamacare, but we just don’t call it that,

Once again, the Teabaggers show their superiority. I mean, just look at their ideas:

Foreign Policy:

Health Care

Women’s Rights

The UN

Eustace has spoken! Will YOU, America?!!

Proof that there should be a federal amendment mandating voting.

The republicans are being upfront about what they will do if they take control of the Senate. If people don’t bother to vote, and the worst happens, they will also consider that they have a mandate, that the American people support their agenda.

Vote. Tell everyone you know to do the same. The dems had better get their act together, too.

Every democrat should ASAP put an ad out with Portman’s words showing what repealing Obamacare will do. Also, each red state senator could put up the words of their republican opponents talking about repealing Obamacare. Rep. Cotton voted 48 times to repeal Obamacare… Rep. Cassidy voted 48 times to repeal Obamacare. Rep. Ernst voted 48 times to repeal Obamacare. Rep Gardner voted 48 times to repeal Obamacare. What do you think they will vote for in the Senate??

Is he an idiot or something ? The ACA is working and we are starting to see a bend in the cost curve. It is cheaper to find diseases before they progress. These people are defiantly hard wired in their thinking.

The Democrats should be printing T-shirts and bumper stickers with that quote on it. Last I heard there was 11 million people who will be in danger of losing their health insurance if The GOP wins The Senate.

Well, their replacement would end up keeping the mandate, but getting rid of anything that actually helps people afford the new health insurance. Coupled with a hefty tax penalty if you don’t get insurance.

It’s all about profits for businesses for them, and what’s better than millions of people who HAVE to pay for expensive insurance or go without (but still pay a hefty fine/tax).

Quit kidding yourself Rob, if you guys take control of the Senate next year it will be impeachment time. Obamacare repeal would only work when Obama is gone.

That’s gonna be your number one priority and you know it.
