Discussion: GOPer Goes Off On 'Idiot' NY Lawmaker Who Just Became A Dem

Whether or not he’s an “idiot” is to be determined, but I certainly suspect that he’s up to no good.

Steve McLaughlin @ Twitter:

This is absolutely no loss to our conference. Intellectual fire power of a squirt-gun …

I love it when Republicans use phrases like intellectual firepower and complain that their opponents don’t have any. It’s hilarious - it’s like hearing a three year old complain about its parents being immature.

With looks that kill.

Classy, very classy compared to the conservative thug who threatened to break a reporter and throw him over.

All this ever more overt and repulsive racism that seems to have just bubbled up into plain view from some previously unrecognized national id since Obama became president isn’t happening just because Obama is president and the right wingers are all spontaneously having some sort of personal racist renaissance. It’s happening because right wingers are especially prone to take their cues for what is and is not socially, morally or politically acceptable from those they deem authority figures. It’s a phenomenon that led to some particularly notorious horrors in the first half of the the Twentieth Century. And, yes, as long as Trump–who’s figured out that the key to success in today’s New, Improved GOP is going lower than anyone else–is in that position, the damage he’ll do to their psyches does not bear thinking about.

Anyone who identifies as Republican has no place calling out someone else’s intelligence.

Bet Cerro knew about the pension interest while this dude was a Republican and said nothing.

When you carry on a discussion in a format that allows the use of no more than 140 characters you are already limiting the seriousness your responses. When you do it repeatedly you are showing the world that you are a person of very small ideas.

Steven Francis “Steve” McLaughlin (born October 4, 1963) is an American banker and politician. He is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly .
That about explains the shit in my diaper episode.
Hey steve, do you know where maggie had lunch yesterday?, hint: The desert was better than lunch.

And it’s amazing that these electronic micro-spasms are reported as news.

This is Western New York. Very conservative.
This is a place where people have been elected running on he Democratic and Conservative ticket simultaneously, Sometimes on the Democratic and “Right-to-Life” tickets simultaneously.
Erie County was in recent years (and still may be) the 4th most segregated county in the country.
I see more ridiculous teabagger lawn signs here than I did when I was living in Florida, including the huge one not too far from me that blames “Osama Obama” for “killing the 2nd amendment.”

“Greater” Buffalo was at one time a place where writers and creators came from. They have been leaving for decades and now it’s just the people who were too conservative to ever leave who are left.
Buffalo’s own former mayor Jimmy Griffin ran and won as a Democrat, Republican, Conservative, and who knows what else.

After all, this is the place that spawned the “liberalism” of Tim Russert.

Welcome to the Mean Girls Club, Mr. McLaughlin.

Well, he’s our idiot now…asshole.

Oooohhhh an idiot! Wonder what he said about his disgraced colleague from Staten Island who was forced to resign due to felony shenanigans…we’ll be waiting…

He went from GOP to Dem; that seems pretty smart to me.

You mad, bro?

I agree. My guess is that it’s not that he’s suddenly against how FUBAR the GOP is, it’s that he’s realized that means he’ll be primaried with someone more to his right. And in the article about him linked here, it says that he’s voted with the Democrats sometimes. Pure opportunism but it sounds like he was more of an Olympia Snow/Susan Collins type of Republican so the party change does make sense.

But it’s to the Imaginary Raygun. The real Raygun did raise taxes and instituted amnesty for illegal immigrants. The real Raygun would be too liberal to be a GOPper. I’m not saying Raygun was great. But even Nixon would be too liberal for today’s GOP.

Maybe.

But he’s our squirt gun.

I know McLaughlin, since he lives in an adjacent area. He is one of those people who always has something to say and it is almost never worth listening to.
