Discussion for article #232273
No, he doesn’t. He can veto everything and they don’t have the votes to override. He can stage a shutdown and actually accomplish what the middle class wants.
From the lips of
“I’m not Imelda Marcos”
When we fuck America over we at least use KY Jelly!
But with sand in it of course."
She said. “And with a little cooperation from the President, we can get Washington working again.”
This statement just makes me sick. What really gets me is the amount of ill-will and ACTUAL harm to very real people in the middle class that underlies the Republican party approach of shutting everything down over the last 6 years. And now she is threatening the President saying… do what we want or it continues and worse.
Their approach to do anything and everything to get their party back in power is sick.
Republicans 2015 - Money first, Party over Country.
She may not have made a major gaff, but her speech was all “look at me” and “we rule” stories in a tone and vocabulary more appropriate for elementary or middle school.
It was like watching the “buckle you seat belt” spiel on an airplane. just terrible.
That’s a great description of her speech.
This occasionally shrill grifter, while strident enough for the Teahaddists (to the right of Cruz?) was asked to tone it down of course. So what if she grew up on a farm, so what if she was in Bush war one.
Lots of us have had a cow dump on our head while milking, or castrated an animal in 4H or F.F.A.
The stilted photogenics aside, she sounded like a typical GOP water carrier or a stuck pig, to use her homespun sense of humor.
As a Sara replacement, she doesn’t have a come hither bone in her body and before some of y’all go nuts that I’ve waxed sexist, it’s based in being around GOP business associates while Ms. Palin was in the running and having to hear them conjure up and slobber their inner school boy with inappropriate suggestions, so take it with a grain of salt.
Not a looker, at least not to me so she might lose the FOX vote off the bat.
Noting that MSNBC had some meter running live stream with audience reactions, when this gal took the stage, almost half of the respondents were negative all the way through whereas POTUS started out in the 90’s and drifted into the mid 80’s on certain subjects with independents being the largest gap to the negative, until mid speech, then they hewed to the natural GOP mien. That isn’t really a surpise because as any well read TPMer knows, there are no actual Libertarians.
Where is the story on Carnival Cruz’s reply? NY Times mentioned it was odd with dark cell phone video, and he stopped a couple minutes in and wanted a do over.
EDIT: HuffPo had it…
0:51 in or so… Median income has stagnated for over a decade. Ooops…Yes since Bush was president and that’s why he wanted to start over - he told the truth for once.
That had to be the most unprofessional amateurish rebuttal I have ever seen. 10 year olds with a Smartphone can produce something better.
TPM Headline:
GOP To Obama: We Won In November So You Still Have To Work With Us
He really doesn’t. President Obama doesn’t have to run again. For anything.
You do.
And there’s no reason in the world why the President should let Republicans destroy his legacy and the country.
Obama should work with Republicans the same way they worked with him after his 2008 and 2012 victories - not at all.
It’s called KARMA, Republican bitches!
Suck on it!
Just like the GOP worked with Obama after he won in 2008 and 2012, right?
“We’ll defend life, because protecting our most vulnerable is an important measure of any society,"
Does that mean we’ll stop injecting prisoners with untested lethal painful chemical cocktails?
Is it technically accurate for Sen. Ernst to call Keystone an “infrastructure project”?
In this context, seems a bit misleading to call a privately owned and operated oil pipeline “infrastructure.”
Clever speech-writing, though: “see, we support infrastructure–why doesn’t the president?”
Shorter dialogue
GOP To Obama: We Won In November So You Still Have To Work With Us
Dems to GOP: Why? You never worked with us and Obama’s mandate is still bigger than yours is.
Oops!
Joni translated: Life begins at conception and ends at birth.
The big thing with her speech to me was she talked about republicans trying to fix things that aren’t broken.
Why is Sen. Ernst trying to undermine the American galoshes industry?
