The last time Republicans ran things (into the dirt) it cost me $60,000. Let’s not do any “biting off.”
Let’s build.

More than $100K for me. Laid off, retirement fund wiped out. So I find all this “wrecking ball” talk uncompelling at best. I don’t want the economy or anything else wrecked. It was no fun the last time and I have less margin for plutocrat-driven disasters now. Sharpening up my guillotine this time.
It’s really amazing these guys are allowed to pass this shit. They put this shit out there to lure in the votes then take it all back when post election reality sets in. Now we have to wait on ACA repeal and medicare privatization. What changed in the last 5 years that brought about the change of heart? My guess the excuses they had for not doing it. All gone. They have the whole show now and can do what they want. Now they don’t want. What the fuck does it take to see these assholes for what they are?
We’ve gotten used to doing nothing. Now that we have complete power, you expect us to start doing something?
Sorry, the Republicans talk about things the way I talk about them, so that’s why I keep voting for them. They also look like me. I really don’t care that they don’t do what they say they will do, or that the economy always does better when the Democrats are in charge.
It has been so long since they governed they forgot what is involved. Just a hint about privatizing Medicare got their phones ringing off the hook because they didn’t learn one damn thing the last time they wanted to do it.
Intelligent people learn from their mistakes, these are not intelligent people. A few of them may have some brains but not the bulk of them.
“I think we should leave Medicare for another day,” (Sen. Lamar Alexander) said. “Medicare has solvency problems. We need to address those, but trying to do that at the same time we deal with Obamacare falls in the category of biting off more than we can chew.”
The way they want to “deal with Obamacare” will worsen the solvency of Medicare.
But that isn’t a bug, it’s a feature.
If they “reconcile” Medicare with their 51 they are politically defenseless.
Dems can campaign that the GOP single-handedly destroyed it and there’s nowhere the GOP can go.
Just look at all this stuff they expect us to dooo! We can’t do all this stuff! This list is way too long! Why, we’d have to work four or five days some weeks!
These guys are all cowards. They go with the grab the pussy guy until they realize it will cost them re-election. This is the swamp that should have been drained, not the Cabinet members and senior staff Obama put together. The swamp is in Congress. Fucking nitwit Americans pulled the plug on the wrong tank.
They lured in voters, but have to walk it back just 3 weeks later! Before Trump’s coronation and the new Congress is in session. A tiny glimmer of hope for this wretched week.
“…their mission is always the billionaire’s agenda.”
A billionaire in a finely tailored suit masquerading as a populist might seem oddly oxymoronic in the same sense that some seemingly intelligent people read the tabloids because they think them more accurate than conventional news sources.
They know it would end their careers.
All a snare and a delusion designed to keep the Democrats - generous folks that they are - from eviscerating the Republicans on their Medicare Repeal goal. The Democrats should go after the Republicans for their goal, and not let it slide because the Republucans are trying to squirm out if it, now. But will the Democrats do that? Don’t hold your breath.
Also sprach das Arschloch Thune:
“I think we got a pretty full agenda,” said Sen. John Thune (R-SD), who noted that he wanted to get around to “entitlement reform” at some point.
(emphasis added)
Dear Senator Arschloch,
My dictionary defines entitlement as “the fact of having a right to something”. That I have a right to a Social Security check and a right to be covered by Medicare is a consequence of a significant amount of taxes I have paid over the course of my working life.
Here’s the deal, asshole: I paid OASDI taxes amounting to 7.65% of my income and my University paid another 7.65% of my income into the Social Security Trust Funds and the Medicare Trust Fund. In exchange for the taxes I’ve paid into those funds, the Government agreed that I would receive a pension from Social Security and health insurance through Medicare.
I’ve been assured throughout my career that those things would be there when it was my turn. I’ve planned the last decades of my life around them in combination with my University pension and money in a 403(B) account.
Now you want to be Lucy van Pelt and snatch the football away at the last moment. My retirement was planned on a three-legged stool, and you want to saw away one of those legs.
I’m fucking pissed off, Senator Arschloch. I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it any longer! I’m not alone in that opinion: you fuck with that stuff that I’ve worked my adult life to earn and we will come after you. If you’re lucky, it will be at the ballot box the next time your sorry ass is up for re-election. Are you feeling lucky, punk?
Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen
They are all LAZY and COWARDLY. They love to threaten, just like Trump, but are too limp and indolent to do anything really.
I wish I could make chicken clucking sounds in this comments section
Making matters more complicated is the fact that no one is quite sure what their President-elect is thinking at this point.
Right there, their most glaring mistake.
Reps: But we don’t wanna govern!
Just wait until Trump addresses the nation, he will put orators like JFK and Martin Luther King to shame.
People will be so uplifted by his “Grab Life by the Pussy” speech.
