Discussion: GOP Senator: There's 'No Basis' For Senate Not To Consider SCOTUS Nom

I sincerely believe that Chriatian Fundamentalist are spreading a mind virus, actively seeking to destroy Anerican and or freedoms (the freedom from religion). I sincerely believe that Republicans are at best mentally ill from this virus and at worst evilly using it to advance their plutocrat goals.

I am very sincere.

How about this lead for the article instead:

ā€œMitch McConnell continues his policy of allowing senator in blue states to make symbolic complaints about the GOPā€™s refusal to consider a supreme court nominee.ā€

When reviewing the Cold War, it is well worth remembering that after the collapse of the Berlin Wall, a meeting was convened of Americans and Russians who had played key roles in that period and they spoke frankly with each other about how they viewed significant events like the Cuban Invasion, the U2 Shootdown, and other major events in that saga.

They came away with a disturbing but understandable realization that both sides had made decisions based on fears and misunderstandings of the others true intentions. Not that this will change, but it is a very important element to remember when you start talking about fail safe mechanisms, dead man triggers and the belief that when it comes to nuclear weapons, a belief that your opponent is ready to blow up the world to save it.

adding that it was ā€œinappropriateā€ that ā€œboth sidesā€ launched a ā€œpolitical battleā€ so quickly after Scaliaā€™s death.
Both sides must be the ape shit crazy vs the bat shit crazy wings of the rethug party.

I think that Garland will be confirmed. If Trump is he nominee, he will be confirmed by the election. Otherwise, he will be confirmed after Secretary Clinton is elected.

I know that Liberals would want Obama to withdraw the nomination if Hillary wins, but he wonā€™t. Heā€™s too much of a class act.

If the nominee is Mr. Trump, and he becomes the next president, who knows who his nominee would be.

My guess would be Jeanine Pirro. Need someone to represent the TV clan!

Old Susan Collins doing her same old Lucy with the football trick.

She makes all these happy moderate noises, she makes all sorts of sensible contortions,

But when the wingnuts need her vote, they always have it.

Highly overrated, no way is she, sheā€™s so unqualified, you wouldnā€™t believe how unqualified she, he has read things about her that are so, sheā€™s a complete nothingā€¦

Every last one of them cites patently partisan reasons for their conduct, and piles on a heap of lying. Sad, sad state of affairs.

Remind me again, Sen Collins is up for reelection and could lose her job. Nothing to admire here.

NO, we donā€™t! Liberalsā€”real onesā€”are honorable people. Using people is a Con practice.

well done
you must scare yourself

Iā€™ll admire her if she is able to make the hearings happen. Right now, all she is doing is posturing.

She doesnā€™t want to be stuck to Trump or Cruz with LePageā€™s mucilage, but Mitch can always count on her vote when he needs it

"If the nominee is Mr. Trump, and he becomes the next president, who knows who his nominee would be. Heā€™s rather unpredictable

Some of his nominees might bit!

Thereā€™s also no ā€œbasisā€ for believing Collins is saying this for any other reason than that she knows she has to say it for her re-election campaign, but also knows that she will never have to deal with hearings or a vote because GOP/Teatroll leadership has her back. As far as Iā€™m concerned, she agrees with them, and there is pretty much nothing she can say to change that perception.

ā€œThe leaderā€™s not real happy with me,ā€

That makes you feel better, Susie? You voted to give him his job. You are responsible for what he does. The only way you absolve yourself is to stop caucusing with the Republicans.

Trust me, sheā€™s just setting up the opportunity to pull the football away. I guarantee you she would vote with all the other Republicans to not confirm any Supreme Court Justice if it came up for a vote. Sheā€™s all talk.

Ha!..dont listen to her, echoes of Joe Wilsonā€™s screeching ā€œYou Lieā€ is the fitting response to Susan Collins. In 7+ years, her word on everything Barack is at best fungible.
