“I want to be on the right side of history.”

You’re in the wrong party then, Senator.

"Asked whether he thinks Trump’s moral authority is compromised because of his continued support for Moore, Scott said, “Certainly I don’t think so.”

That made me laugh.

Indeed. These guys cannot be that clueless. Actually, I guess they can. Unbelievable.

Asked whether he thinks Trump’s moral authority is compromised because of his continued support for Moore, Scott said, “Certainly I don’t think so.”

As a recent poet laureate once wrote, “When you ain’t got nothing, you got nothing to lose.”

“I don’t necessarily understand how, but they do,”

Kind of the way I feel about minorities and lower income people who vote Republican.

Scott’s on all sides of history including the “both parties” chestnut. He’s either against trumpism and a Moore senate set or he’s not. The reader can take her pick.

Honey, you’re a conservative black Republican who supports Donald Trump. You already ARE on the wrong side of history, bitch.

“I’d the side of right when history writes the story when it comes to Roy Moore. But consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds. So I’d like to be on the wrong side of history when it comes to climate change, tax cuts for the wealthy, health insurance for millions of people, immigration and Donald Trump.”

If “my senator” Tim Scott wants to be on the right side of history, he needs to leave the GOP and become an independent if not a Democrat. He probably could not survive politically, but he would be better able to sleep at night. He and Graham will be mocked for a long time for their support of Trump and half-ass protests against the excesses of trumpism and the religious right (while not missing a photo opp or tv shot with Trump or one of the members of the cabinet). Nikki Haley will defeat one of these guys eventually.

Cowards all. Unable to clearly state the logical conclusion of their own opinion that Trump is on the side of immoral behavior.

History tends to remember mostly the brave and the constructive, along with an occasional outrageous criminal. People like you, Tim, the mediocrities and cowards, barely make an impression while they’re alive. They’re certainly not remembered a moment afterward.

Every time I see Tim Scott, I think of David Allen Grier and this classic bit from “Amazon Women On The Moon”:

“I think there are many Americans that disagree with me vehemently. I don’t necessarily understand how, but they do,” he said. “When Americans disagree with me, whether that’s the President or other folks, it doesn’t change my opinion, but I’m certainly unable to change theirs.”

ABC left out the last sentences of his statement:

Now if all y’all will excuse me, I need to get goin’ to a meeting of Turkeys in Favor of Thanksgiving. I’m the incoming president for 2018.

Imagine being a person of color in the R party.

How could you sleep at night? The cognitive dissonance must eat him alive.

Textbook example of wishywashy. Strong, bold stand- followed by a weak kneed demurral/negation to what is a logical extension of the initial strong, bold stand - due to fear of a backlash (or twitter attack followed by bot echo twitter attacks). Net difference in the court of public opinion? Zero.

Seriously senator, then why say anything at all on the topic. Just run away from the cameras/mics like Mo Brooks. Both responses leave the same impression.

I agree with Tim’s conclusion but for an opposite reason: Little Fingers has no moral authority to start with.

Strong Thurmond who was a mentor to Tim Scott raped and impregnated his maid, Does Scott consider that being on the right side of history?

Trump has any moral authority??
Tim Scott should have bust out laughing at that point.

“Denounce Trump and cite the sixteen women credibly accusing him of sexual harassment and assault? I’m a black politician in South Carolina – are you trying to get me killed?”
