Discussion: GOP Senator Calls For End Of Shutdown Without Deal On Trump's Border Wall

Have to post this every once in awhile when Collins name comes up. Crowdpac funding for an opponent to Collins should she run is up to
$3,754,568 and a huge amount of that came about during Barf Kav.

I think he’s an idiot. Gardner has a terrible voting record as a Trump sycophant. He is a senator for a newly Blue state that dislikes Trump. If he had any brains, Gardner would have not been an open Trump lackey the last 2 years. Gardner will lose in 2020. Good riddance.

With ranked choice voting in Maine I think that she is toast.

Everyone is aware of the sea change in Washington with the Dems controlling the House now, but a relatively underreported story is the impact the 2020 Senatorial elections will have on Republican votes in the Senate during this term. Trump shouldn’t be too sure he can count on some of these folk from swingish states.

He’s not stupid. Nor is he brave, scrupulous, moral, ethical or steadfast. He’ll bend whichever way the wind blows.

The dude happens to be a Senator from Colorado, which is leaning blue, so he’s got to thread a needle to be competitive in 2020. So yeah, it’s getting hot in his coop.

That’s what hindsight will do for you…

He’s opened up the discussion out of self preservation because he’s one of the endangered R senators who’s definitely not looking forward to 2020. Along with Collins, Tillis of NC and some others.

I would call this a ā€œcrack in the wallā€

Cue the angry tweets. Let the dominoes fall.

That anyone is saying this out loud so soon is a good sign for the country.

I’ve been posting along these lines. Sometime early in 2020 the endangered Rs will look around and see how perilous continuing to support the occupant is. His usefulness if there was ever any is at an end.

ETTD.

Usually, screaming in pain, writhing in debased degradation, and begging to be euthanized quickly.

So, here’s hoping!

I suspect with the level of activism afoot it’ll be long before that.

As Senator Durbin told us, McConnell needs trumpp’s permission to do that.

Wall Street is collapsing because of Donnie’s Wall.

He owns that , too…

Probably. If there’s one thing the incumbents are good at is sizing up the political landscape, but def by the summer of 2020 and pres nominating conventions when they have to declare their loyalty to someone.

Gardner headed the RNSC in 2018. He knows the polls and has the data. That he has turned so quickly says this is NOT playing well. Unless he puts some major distance between himself and Trump, he is going to loose by 10 points in 2020, even with distance he will likely loose. Collins is in the same place. (Although I bet she retires).

The others who need to start looking in the rear view mirror are McSally (appointed to McCains seat), Jodie Earnst (Iowa), and Tom Tillis (NC)

Toss in Alexander, who is not running again, and is sounding free to speak his mind, and there is not only enough to take over the senate next time, but enough senators who are not safe, that Trump is not exactly safe…

I forget, is this Cory the one from The Goonies, or the one from The Lost Boys?

Oh yeah!

And let’s not forget Sen Schumer told us that Trump said, ā€œhe didn’t want to look foolishā€ when asked what was stopping him(Trump) from re-opening government.

The guy is a total screwball!
