Shorter GOP Sen. Johnson: I cant wait to vote on it.

I can’t imagine, quite honestly, that I’d have the information to evaluate and justify a yes vote within just a week.”

Yertle sure seems determined to please his (rich) masters before September.

The tell:

I’m not going to criticize the process unless we start taking the vote way too early, before we have time to get the information.

Ron Johnson is known to be a very slow reader with sub-par comprehension skills.

Sadly, that still puts him way ahead of the current leader of the free world.

To a certain extent, Handel’s win showed that there’s really no longer any penalty for doing things that are totally against your own constituents. There was time when saying something like, “I don’t support a livable wage” was the kiss of death.

Not anymore.

Johnson can vote for this abomination knowing that he most likely will be reelected.

Right. All that matters is any combination of following:

  • Not Black
  • Not Democrat
  • Not LGBT

The really worrying thing is that Yertle sure seems to be acting like a guy who knows things that make him believe that elections no longer matter. And he has been acting that way for the last two years now.

Whether that’s because he thinks voter suppression laws, the Mercer data machine and massive infusions of oligarch money guarantee perpetual Republican victory (a lesson he may well be drawing anew from last night) or whether he has even more concerning reasons for thinking that, I can’t say. What I can say is that he took extreme measures to stamp out all movement toward a bipartisan announcement and rejection of Russian intervention and interference in the electoral process and he has quietly sabotaged all efforts toward making the voting process secure.

“Nevertheless, [McConnell] persisted” he added while rubbing arnica cream on his back.

Johnson’s position of “What I’ve told leadership very clearly is I’m going to need time and my constituents are going to need time to evaluate exactly how this is going to affect them,” is not incompatible with McConnell’s stand that the public would not have even 10 hours to review the legislative text before a vote. How long does it take to tell your constituents “You’re fucked and we don’t care?” Hell, Johnson doesn’t even have to wait for the text to put out the message.

It would be, but that won’t stop you from voting for that turd.

Evaluate? Ron Johnson? HAHAHAHAHA.

As Dave Weigel opined this morning, “All politics are now tribal”.

I would guess that McConnnell is confident that Republicans can blame Democrats for fucking up health care. Any problems which show up by 2018 will be blamed on the transition problems to Obamacare. Not sure what the 2020 excuse will be.

Ron Johnson can only be characterized as a “dim bulb.”

Sorry, I couldn’t find an elephant wearing the healthcare suicide vest, have to use theirs from long ago. They know if they pass their healthcare reform bill, this will be them this time:

Even if they wait until the ACA collapses, their party was swept into power partly on the promise of something better. If they don’t deliver, no spin can save them from the backlash.

“It’s been a very open process within the Republican conference.”

Really? Senator Mike Lee, who’s on the committee that is ostensibly writing the bill, said yesterday that he has yet to see a draft.

That’s really odd. Maybe they actually can’t get something together.
I understand that McConnell is trying to do something slimy and dark, but there basically isn’t any precedent for Senators voting on such an important bill, basically without any debate.
