Discussion: GOP Reps Warn Trump Against Pardoning Himself: 'Terrible Move'

ā€œI donā€™t know why weā€™re walking through hypotheticals here in this process. The President has never said he would pardon himself. I donā€™t know where the President would go forward pardoning himself. But I donā€™t think a President should pardon themselves.ā€

Because the President is bat-shit crazy and has shown he will do anything to protect himself.

The thing of it is is that once in your life you would have had to show some backbone -a spine - to be taken seriously. Since the Republican Congress has never done that, forgive us for being highly skeptical.

Best predictor of future expectations is past performance.

Oh, Iā€™m sure heā€™s quaking in his Italian leather loafers upon hearing that ā€¦

Itā€™s intereting that there is so much discussion of the President pardoning himself and no discussion of the crimes he is guilty of. I guess we all know - heā€™s guilty!

That IS odd, youā€™re right! Well, there is much discussion of NO COLLUSION.

Like that sad, physically hapless kid in school who wasnā€™t compensatorily a brainiac either, just sort of hopeless generally, McCarthy finally makes it over the finish line in the schoolā€™s annual ā€œShould the President Fucking Pardon Himself or Not?ā€ race, far behind all the other kids.

With the Manafort tweet today and the leak of the letter yesterday, Iā€™m (recklessly?) speculating either Mueller sent a subpoena to Trump, indicted Jr. or someone close to Trump, or Manafort is flipping. In any case, something definitely happened or is happening.

This is the line of defense you use when the walls, unlike Melania, are hugging you tightā€¦and about as warmly.

Hey, remember the good 'ol days when the right-wing would froth at the mouth over President Obama using too many Executing Orders and abusing the power of the Presidency? Good times, good times.

Will Hurd (R-TX)

National political correspondent for the Washington Post Karen Tumulty said of the district: ā€œIt is the only true swing district in Texasā€¦This is a district that last year voted narrowly for Hillary Clinton, but it also voted to re-elect [U.S. Rep.] Will Hurd to Congress.ā€

And now Trump will probably tweet-demand special elections to replace McCarthy and Hurd.

The mere assertion that he has this power is a thing the Founders would have considered impeachable. The whole goddamn reason we had a revolution was to escape a world governed by people who were literally above the law.

Every day or two, we get bludgeoned with a new impeachable offenseā€“whether freshly committed or just now surfacing, that gets shrugged off as a ā€œhypothetical,ā€ an example of Trumpā€™s ā€œunconventional governing style,ā€ or a ā€œbreach of normsā€ by the MSM. And in so doing, they keep setting the impeachment bar higher, requiring him to do a thing even worse than the impeachable things heā€™s already done that were shrugged off by the MSM and Congress as not being worthy of impeachment, and when he does that, it just gets moved up another notch.

Of course Trump wonā€™t pardon himself any time soon. Heā€™s still market-testing the idea and doing beta runs and softening the ground for its acceptance. Thereā€™s still a lot of tweaking to be done. The feedback heā€™s gotten from selected limited views has been positive, but he needs to round off some of the edges before he can broaden the demographics he wants to appeal to. Heā€™s been consulting other marketing experts, including Sean Hannity, Kim Kardashian, Sylvester Stallone, Ted Nugent, Sarah Palin, and Don King. Roseanne Barr has been quietly sought out for her opinion, but until recently sheā€™s been too occupied with another gig to officially come on board. Hower, the campaign is well under way behind the scenes and a lot of funds have been raised for the effort, and trade experts are predicting that there will be a sharp uptick in interest in this product once the final ad has been written and produced. Expect the official product launch during the summer premier of Big Brother.

Yeah, his reelection in 2016 wasnā€™t anything eezy-peezy already, with the final margin being 1.3%. And that 3rd party candidate running this time again will more likely take votes away from Hurd than Jones.

From the same Wiki entryā€¦

So yep, replace the ā€œpeopleā€ in ā€œā€œI think people would eruptā€ with ā€œmy constituentsā€ and it makes perfect sense. Notice also that he thinks itā€™d be a bad move politicallyā€¦

By the by why donā€™t they ask them this obvious question ā€“ why the fuck are we talking about the moron pardoning himself in the first place?

It would definitely end badly.

Actually, former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara opined that, ā€œTrump pardoning himself would be almost self-executing impeachment.ā€

Er, maybe because everyone knows the P.O.S. in the White House would not hesitate to pardon himself or his feckless children.

If Trump can pardon himself,he can also declare himself President for life.
That is not going to fucking happen.
He can only declare being a dickhead for life.
