Discussion: GOP Rep. Who Co-Chaired Trump's PA Campaign Resigns

You are correct that is entirely possible I wasn’t suggesting something shady. I just found it odd for him to run and win re-election and quit a month into it. There is probably a lot more to this story

Doesn’t mean the Democrats can’t fight for it. Makes the other side have to fight and spend resources.

And there is always the tiny chance of an upset. Although many Republicans would rather die than cast a ballot for a Democrat.

Not so fast buddy. A friend of mine has a few questions for you about ‘‘polling data’’ and ‘‘back channels’’.

Bummer. They broke it, they bought it.

Maybe don’t run again if you’re not going to serve out an entire month of your upcoming term. Just a thought.

FIFY: New Congress sworn in on January 3, 2019. Tom Marino announces his last day is January 23, 2019. Wow, 20 whole days (including weekends). And how much did he spend on his reelection campaign?

I wonder what the REAL reason for his resignation is. He’s going quickly and quietly.

And how much $$ remains in his campaign warchest? Isn’t he permitted to hold on to that?

Sorry to hear that.

“Hey, Marino. Purdue Pharma called. They said ‘Welcome aboard.’”

I beat cancer nine years ago. When it reoccurs I ‘ll spend every minute I can with my wife and family. I’m a yellow dog Dem, but I feel for this gop.

That would make sense if it weren’t also reported he’s departing into a private sector job. No mention of a health break, just a job change. This is his fifth term in a heavily pro-Trump district and he’s leaving after one month to take up work elsewhere? Nah.

In addition to being vice chair of PA’s Trump campaign and pharma-linked, his committee work is also interesting:

  1. Committee on the Judiciary
    a. Chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform,
    b. Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet
  2. Committee on Foreign Affairs
    a. Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific
    b. Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia
  3. Committee on Homeland Security
    a. Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies
    b. Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications (Vice Chair)
  4. Member of the House Baltic Caucus.

No fun nor profit being in the opposition… lets get to the private sector and do something useful, like lobbying

None, per Open Secrets. His campaign is 100K in the red.

Either health (in which case it’s a little odd he didn’t announce) or something that could get him expelled.

Ain’t nearly as much fun being in the minority. A lot of these Repuke Congress critters have only ever known what it’s like to serve in the majority. I am sure that they are finding out really quickly that being in the minority with a fabulously acerbic and unpopular preshident leading the party off a cliff is going to suck rotten eggs.

Yeah, that makes no sense. Something here isn’t on the level. Perhaps it’s something personal like a health issue, but the timing of his resignation is suspicious, especially as he was the head of Trump’s Pennsylvania campaign -a crucial swing state in the 2016 election that Trump barely “won”. I wonder if this is Mueller related.

As a general rule, when people resign for health related reasons, they generally say so. The fact that he didn’t leaves one to speculate. And I guess he doesn’t want to spend time with his family?
