Discussion: GOP Rep. Suggests The Brussels Terror Attacks Targeted Americans

Because everything is about us. A terror attack happens in Europe and the President should immediately cut short state visits to Latin American countries and rush home and…make it about us.

There should be a TV channel where political idiots go to get biyatch slapped on camera.

Devin Nunes once read somewhere that most car accidents happen within two miles of home. So he always parks his car two miles from his house and walks to and from it every day.

Not a chance. I used to live in his district (Visalia area, San Joaquin Valley, Ca) before moving to Tucson. Deep Red. Often he runs unopposed. Funny though, he’s considered establishment Republican, but there’s less there than meets the eye.

If you were going to target Americans, what better location than Brussels? I mean, think about it.

Completely agree with the good Congressmen. If we had a strong leader instead of Obumer, the attackers would have set off their devices closer to the Aeroflot gate at the airport and the Russian Tea Room near downtown. Let’s dispel with this notion that Obumer doesn’t know what he is doing, he knows exactly what he’s doing and he now has blood on his hands…(snark)//

Shouldn’t you have to take a test to be on the Intelligence Committee?

The intelligence committee is possibly the most creatively named of all the committees.

They really want to scare the old farts that are about to die anyway into voting GOP out of fear of terrorists.

Congressman Nunes promised, “We’ll assist the Belgians in defending the world’s only known source of sprouts from ISIL terrorists!”

He should have added that it is really a bit presumptious and grandstanding of Europeans to put all the major buildings of the European Union between the site of the subway attack (which is right next to the Berlaymont, the gigantic building of the EU Commission) and the American Embassy. It might give people the un-American idea that the European institutions could have been the target.

And if a bomb were to explode on the White House lawn, its obvious that the target was the Canadian Embassy, since it is pretty close…

There’s something missing from this article (and the source article from The Hill)…input from actual intelligence officials or even legitimate experts. At least The Hill article pushes back on Nunes’ idiotic statements somewhat.

I know Republicans eschew science, but going pre-Copernican is a bit much.

I am sure United, American Airlines and Delta will be real happy to hear this. What could be better for their businesses than a Congress critter saying they are targets of terrorism?

Thanks. Emiliano. I’ve been taking a break from TPM over the past couple of weeks owing to Mrs. Von Holst’s growing alarm at how worked up I’ve been getting over the election cycle.
