It’s pretty obvious that the correct way to fix the “issues” in the VRA is to apply preclearance everywhere. Unfortunately we don’t have a reasonable Supreme Court.

I can imagine the Mobile or Birmingham CoC working like hell to get a new tech or manufacturing firm to open up a branch there. And then Mo opens his mouth and lets the world know it’s still 1896 in Alabama, and no company on earth could get staff to move there, or get senior staff even to visit.

Contrary to Republican thinking, “the African-American” can think for himself and herself, and is smart enough to understand which political party is corralling them into tiny districts to keep African-American representation in government small and ineffective.
Look at the way Republicans treated President Obama. Abandoning their own legislation when the President endorsed it.
