Actually…since this came as a personalized note in a fundraiser, it seems to me the Rep is saying suggesting that he would count it as a political favor if the bank would take punitive action against this employee. In return, there may be things he can do in Congress that will help the bank.
That’s how I would read this note if I were the recipient.

I’m not a lawyer but this certainly looks like an agreement between parties to deprive her of her civil right to participate in the political process.
Why did the people in Frel’s Congressional district elect a crook?

You’re right, but the optics (should be) terrible. Dems need to stop holding back and being so nice. Jugular attack is warranted here. Marches with signs and adverts saying bluntly that Frelinghuysen is a corrupt pol who uses his position to pursue personal vendettas and deprive his constituency of their civil rights. Stuff like that. And loudly.
