An apt analogy.
āThe Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the fourth quarter of 2016, adjusted for seasonal variation, but not for price changes, was $102.7 billion.ā
GMās Q4 revenue was $43.9 billion.
Ah back to the good old days of cholera and dysentery, fun times and fond memories.
The selective memory and understanding of history by the GOP is striking. As it fights to show that regulations hurt things and ignoring that government involvement made it possible.
It also shows a striking stupidity about how the world works. Access to the internet is often critical for numerous reasons. Not everyone may have access but can usually get access at libraries and such (which the GOP seems to like to cut too).
It also demonstrates the hypocrisy of privacy concerns they troll.

Iām among the large number of professional artists and illustrators who sell their work online. So, yeah, Iāve gotta use it. (And I must mention that Iāve sold more of my drawings and paintings over the āseries of tubesā in 7 years than I have in shows and galleries in the last 50 years.)

After trying to figure out what he meant by regulating it at the beginning, I can only assume that he has no idea who developed the internet.
Maybe his name was originally No-sense-in-brainer.
