Discussion: GOP Rep. Drops Pro-Gun Stance, A+ NRA Rating From Campaign Site

Bishop’s district is one of the Democrats’ targets in the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue” program for the 2018 midterms, and the Detroit News noted that Democratic candidate Elissa Slotkin raised more money than Bishop during the last two quarters of 2017.

However, a campaign spokesman insisted that “there’s no hidden agenda” behind the change.

Nope, no hidden agenda at all. Michigan voters should believe this.

No hidden agenda?

I guess that’s true.

Hiding the agenda takes way more skill.

Well, evidently, they’ve been known to believe dumber things, so why not give it a shot?

This is shooting yourself in both feet: 1) call attention to the suburban voters that want sensible gun control that you are in the NRA’s pocket and 2) look untrustworthy to the hard-core NRA crowd.

Proceed, Representive.

No worries, methinks the people of Michigan will be well reminded of Mr. Bishop’s NRA stance in the coming election.

I don’t want to say the NRA has gotten toxic, but in its place he put up his A+ rating from NAMBLA.

“All we were doing was revising the website to reflect the legislative issues,”

Gun control has never been a legislative issue so we removed unnecessary clutter from our website by deleting our A/A+ NRA rating. If 2nd Amendment rights ever becomes an issue we will see which position is polling better before posting a nebulous, good people on both sides, statement.

Get this scumbag on camera and make him embrace or distance himself.

This is an interesting shift. Not gonna hold my breath but if the NRA is beginning to turn even the slightest bit radioactive, it’s cause for a celebration, in my book.

May the trend continue and gain steam.

Dear Millennials,

Remember how the “grownups” said you were too spoiled, lazy and obsessing over avocado toast, and how you needed to take responsibility for your future and get involved in politics, or else you’d get what you deserve (AKA: Nothing)? And then, once you did get involved in politics by saying, “Enough!”, organizing yourselves and marches all over the country, they turned around and called you Nazis? You’ve got these hypocritical muthafuckas on the run now. Keep up the good work!

Love,

Ken in MN.

I’ve made all kinds of dumb predictions so I’m not claiming special insight here, but I’ve always told cynics who say the laws will never change that in fact they’ll change when lawmakers need pro-control voters to get elected. And in many districts all that requires is pro-control voters voting. Here’s a crowd of maybe 1,000 in a county seat in southeastern PA. You can’t hear them chanting “VOTE VOTE VOTE” or “VOTE THEM OUT VOTE THEM OUT” but they were. Cynicism on this issue was justified after Sandy Hook. But maybe not after Parkland.

Wake us when he does something that causes the NRA to drop his A+ rating. Until then it’s clear what the agenda is.

Oh the roaches can run, but can’t hide. The internet is forever, douchebag.

Also removed is his detailed explanation of what a “well-regulated” militia is, why everyone wanting to bear arms should be a member of a well-regulated militia and his brilliant expose on the difference between “bearing” arms and “owning” arms…big semantic and legal difference. /s

‘ELECT ME! I’m just gonna screw you a little…but only if you can find out what I stand for before I’m back in office!’

We can fix that …

Scarlet letters.

If the NRA association now translates into a net loss in overall support you may see that action before long.

So they are starting to run and hide… soon they will be wearing sheets … but we SEE YOU

“Mike Bishop has not changed positions on these issues.”

He just doesn’t want anyone to know his positions on these issues.
