Well that should make the good “Christian” Representative happy. Not much of a difference between his version of what Islam is and a goodly (NOT Godly) bunch of faux kristians.
Derp²
I want this guy as a chess opponent; heck, checkers.
“And let me tell you one more thing I know about the Muslim…”
It has now become painfully clear. In order to a member of the Tea Party/ Freedom Caucus you must have the IQ of a rock. ( apologies to Ugg and his vast collection of intelligent rocks)
The ultra right winger’s concern is touching, deeply touching…er shit.

The right winger’s concern is touching, deeply tyroublin…shit.

The gentleman’s concern is…oh, eff it.
“are in a perplexing position”
It looks perplexing because your brain is unicellular…
We’re not going to fall for it. And you can’t draw a clean line between the LGBT community and the Muslim community because there are LGBT Muslims in the United States and all over the world. Muslims are a part of the LGBT community, not distinct from it. LGBT people come from all races, all faiths, all ethnic backgrounds, all classes. And Donald Trump attempting to pit the queer community against the Muslim community is not going to fly. (Dan Savage at Chris Hayes).
As much as they hate gays, it’s obvious that they hate Muslims even more. I will be nice if they came up with a graphic of of the position of every group within their hate spectrum.
Least Most
Mexicans > Blacks > LBGT > Muslims > Gun Grabbers > Hillary Clinton
Hate to tell you, Mo, but many of the Baptists in your state are probably aligned with that “kill every homosexual” thing you said.
ps. I can’t wait for the first GOP/conservative jackass who stands up in Congress or in front of a microphone and says, “I’m not a racist, I have Muslim friends…”
Is there any prominent imam who has called for tolerance and acceptance of gays?
Republican Rep. Mo Brooks (AL) said Thursday that Democrats “are in a
perplexing position” between appealing to the gay community and "to the
Muslim community, which, if it had its way, would kill every homosexual
in the United States of America.”
Actually, we’re not conflicted at all. If you’d stop projecting your failings and biases on others, you might even see that.
My initial reaction was an angry, visceral, rage at religion. Not just Islamist, but moderate Muslims who teach their children falsehoods. Not just Muslims, but Christians who are the main fuel for the fire of hate in this country.
But this was a reaction against bad ideas, not people. I can use the power of speech to destroy bad ideas! I can only use this power, however, if the person I am talking to trusts me. This trust is established by treating all with dignity and respect.
This is not a complicated tight rope to walk. The republicans have a much harder rope to walk. They must hate the gays and the Muslims, it seems. And hate is unsustainable in American politics, long term.
My God, the trend continues… Republican + Alabama = Asshole.
So predictable.
I think there’s palpable disappointment out there, in the GOP critical-thinking-free universe, that there’s been no “bump” of approval ratings for GOP talking points regarding Islam, the LGBT community and high-powered semiautomatic weapons. Instead, at least to me, the dominant response has been one of support for the families of those killed, circumpsection over what appear to be the complicated motives of the shooter, and a renewed interest in and resolve in enacting gun control regulations, especially of AR-15 type weapons.
Ghoulish sour grapes on the part of Mo Brooks.
i didn't know Rep. Brooks was Muslim.
“…which, if it had its way, would kill every homosexual in the United States of America”
Aw, c’mon, Mo. They didn’t ask you about your masturbatory fantasies.
Agreed (and it’s worth noting the initial reaction of the MSM was also about how Orlando could help Trump/the GOP as well).
Said like someone who knows precisely zero American Muslims.
Brooks is an idiot.
They are trying to turn two groups of people they hate against each other. How predictable.
