The ironic thing is he was telling his now-defrauded investors that he guaranteed they would get back the principal. Life clue: the only investment you can make that even conditionally guarantees the principal is bank CDs under the FDIC limit. Any other investment claiming to guarantee the principal is almost certainly a scam.
