“This isn’t pleasant and we don’t change the rules in the middle of the contest.”

No you simply ignore them. After your public service is over, go seek employment as an NFL Official.

Lemme guess… If the Democrat was leading by 9 votes, the legislators would have bent over backwards to ensure that those absentee ballots were counted…

You couldn’t expect less from the land of Steve King, Matthew Whitaker and Michelle Bachmann.

To those who say voting is the answer…you are sadling naive to the corrupt and vicious ways Republicans (Communist like party) will resort to holding power over the working class and seniors and veterans and the poor.

Voting doesn’t work…we will have to burn it down. You watch…if you think the Republicans rigged 2016 or both of Bush’s 2 elections, you ain’t seen nothing until we get to 2020.

Burn it down and start over!

You don’t seriously think they would let partisanship to get in the way of insuring a repub was elected. After all, proof of being mailed on time can’t be allowed if doesn’t follow the old way the PO did things.

So a question - are the types of postal bar codes from the envelopes typically used by more urban post offices that have a higher volume of mail pass through them? In other words, could refusing these types of bar codes favor absentee voters from smaller, more rural regions and disadvantage those from urban districts?

Am I reading the story right that the ballots aren’t being counted because of a failure by the postal service to stamp them?

What the hell

If the barcode has enough intelligence to determine when the the ballot was postmarked…

I can’t argue with the rigging part, but can you specify exactly what you mean by “burn it down?” In other words, what exactly do you intend to do that does not involve voting or getting out the vote?

“This isn’t comfortable. This isn’t pleasant and we don’t change the rules in the middle of the contest. That’s why we have to follow the rule of law in this case,” said GOP Rep. Steve Holt of Denison.

Except that’s exactly what you’re doing, you insufferable, lying jackass.

Legislators, realizing mail ballots often are no longer postmarked, updated the law in 2016 to allow a specific code called an intelligent mail barcode to be used to authenticate ballot timeliness if a postmark is missing.

I believe this is a vote for a seat in the Iowa Legislature, not for Congress.

that allows them to count the ballots of voters who did everything right.

So the voters did everything right, but the GOP doesn’t accept computerized validation? How very 19th century of them.

And @go2goal: This is exactly why voting is important. If 15 more people had voted for the Dem, she would have won. That’s why getting the vote out is important, and this is another message that we need to use - if you don’t vote, they get away with it.

Besides, this is the only form we have. Find a better way than “burn it down” (which sounds very Trumpian) and we’ll talk.

It’s the Republican way, Tena. We should no longer be shocked at this kind of chicanery.
