Sort of OT but related. The US Treasury Dept announced that it was reversing the Obama Admin finding that the Cuban Baseball Federation was not an arm of the Cuban Government. This basically derails the deal that MLB negotiated agreement with the Cuban Baseball Federation during the Trump Administration. The Federation would get paid for players under 25 who were signed by US MLB teams. The deal was finalized in December, 2018. The Cuba Baseball Federation just recently presented a list of the first 34 sub 25 year old players eligible to come to the MLB, and Trump-Bolton just rendered the deal nulll citing “human trafficking concerns.”
MLB has no idea how to conduct business going forward, because like with the ACA, the Administration has no real plan. The plan was to make the splash. And pander to the Cuban lobby.
