Discussion: GOP Health Bill Author Dismisses Gripes From 'Medical Industrial Complex'

The lessons that stay with you the longest are the ones learned through painful experience. America is about to get quite the education.

Prematurely bald right winger meant to say “military Industrial complex”, but with trumpism running amok, we’ll see cuts to TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, et al in order to build the wall.

What a fucking moron.

The re-institution of DSH would in no way remotely make up for the billions the Hospitals would lose by suddenly having to absorb the cost of millions of poor, sick, UNINSURED people resorting to the UNCOMPENSATED use of their Emergency Rooms for basic care again like pre-ACA.

The Hospitals took one look at that part of the bill and said: “Fuck that Shit!”

Wait till all those smaller “community hospitals” serving Bugtussel and Butt Plug go belly up and all of Trump’s supporters discover that the better cheaper health care coverage Trump promised them isn’t, and that the fallback solution of taking your fanny to an ER when the pain gets too strong to endure requires a 200 mile drive to get help, and all of the other residents of Bugtussel and Butt Plug suddenly see THEIR hospital charges from that hospital 200 miles away go up by another 35-40% to cover the ER charges their neighbors couldn’t pay…just like the good old days…BEFORE Obamacare.

One of those cases where the best education on a complex subject like health insurance is when you actually try to get it, use it or pay for it, and discover you are royally screwed. Afraid it may have to happen before the citizens of Bugtussel and Butt Plug, armed with pitchforks, start heading for Paul Ryan’s house.

Medical Industrial Complex, good one. I agree we should do away with it , start by eliminating the insurance companies.

The party of business isn’t much into the free market. No one wants this thing, so they keep blaming the market. Brilliant.

It’s like someone put Edible Arrangements in clamshell packaging, and then mocked the public for not buying them-- or even signing for them. It’s a bouquet of nasty fruit in plastic razor blades with no takers? What’s wrong with people?

And perhaps the bill just sucks.

Thought of that GOP and SoCalledPresident?

Jesus. It’s like a maniac blowing up a dam for fun complaining because the people in the town immediately downstream don’t appreciate being spared having their individual homes dynamited.

It wont be just small hospitals. I work in a 500 bed hospital and we struggle now. There are so many non insured people, medicare and medicaid pay next to nothing. People are stuck in the hospital beyond what medicare/medicaid pay because of no payment source for nursing homes. Nursing staff is cut to the bone, creating safety issues. we are one of the top two employers in the country. The GOP trickle down economy will destroy more than small hospitals. Whole communities will be destroyed.

Why does the Energy and Commerice Committee have jurisdiction over this bill?.

It’s not about saving money or improving care or anything else pertaining to healthcare. It’s one thing and one thing only. It’s ideology.

It’s been Paul Ryan’s wet dream since he read Ayn Rand and was bought by the Koch brothers to destroy government run healthcare. If it hurts people in the process, well, they don’t care.

“is likely to result in a substantial reduction in the number of Americans able to buy affordable health insurance or maintain coverage.”

Always keep in mind to the randian republicans in congress this is a feature not a bug, the slogan may as well be “Be Rich or Die”

This is already happening. The story linked below is about some North Carolina Trump supporters who are now going to pay substantially more for their health insurance. I personally have no sympathy.
