Discussion: GOP Ex-Lawmakers Endorse Dem Candidate Over Kansas Gov. Brownback

Discussion for article #225083

“Several Republican former Kansas officials have endorsed Democratic gubernatorial candidate Paul Davis over GOP incumbent Gov. Sam Brownback.”

Several being used in its more uncommon meaning of over 100.

This is a pretty interesting development in Kansas.

Brownback—somehow I just know that’s related to Santorum.

I don’t think the 2014 election results are going to turn out quite like the Teapublicans hoped.

This made me LOL and loudly. I was expecting “several” to mean a dozen or so, not over 100. Still, it’s quite significant when over 100 Republican officials in one state want to get rid of the Republican governor over tax cuts and school funding. Brownback must be an asshole of epic proportions.

I suspect 2014 will be a blood-letting for the Republican Governor’s Associate, a pick up of a couple seats in the Senate (not enough to win it, though), and the loss of a few seats in the House.

Wow, how bad do you have to be to have your local party guys oppose you?

Dems should use Brownback as a whipping boy to illustrate what the country will look like if the modern GOP takes over.

The Beltway Conventional Wisdom ™ crowd is going to have egg on their faces come November.

The GOP is overreaching in very predictable ways, and the DC punditocracy just doesn’t get what that overreach means for the GOP’s electoral chances.

It’s not going to be a bloodbath, but the GOP won’t be happy with the results.

Kansas’ history as a state is deeply tied to public education, and support for that is ingrained in both parties in the state. Kansans also don’t stand for corruption in government, like, at all.

Brownback promised an economic miracle, but the result has been a disaster. He has attempted to mitigate that disaster by cutting public education, and his followers have been caught making sweetheart deals. Three strikes. This is how Democrats always win the Governor’s Mansion in Kansas; a Republican effs up so badly that Republicans bail on him.

This announcement is the last nail in Brownback’s political career. He has already lost.

The GOTP needs you for sure!! LOL This is one of the most positive articles I’ve read lately about the 2014 election. I hope this is a pattern that will continue as America rids herself of these destructive maniacs.

This article just made my day. I saw a piece on Kansas last week on MSNBC and it appears that Brownback is cutting taxes in an effort to starve government of adequate funding and shrink it down to the size where it can be easily drowned in a bathtub. Sound familiar?

The question is will the Koch Laboratory Experiment blow completely up and affect IA, MO, GA, NC, WI, MI, PA, OH, CO, NM and FL? The states were the last line of defense after taking a beating at the national level for the dummies, including Brownback; 2014 might leave only small pockets of resistance to be crushed in 2016 and 2020.

Why do they think that will work, and that it is good for America? We have to start at the top (SCOTUS) and rid this good country of these right wing maniacs before the country truly attains third world status. Their stance on economics, science, women’s health, immigration and trade all are wrong. They hate government, except the part that pays them well. They are not the smartest ones in the room, but think they are. America, please wake up and vote for your own best interests, and not the oligarchs. Oh, and did I mention guns?
