The Mercers have some serious, serious tax issues, involving nearly $7 billion. That’s a big chunk of simoleons even for these lot (who, according to some analysts, are a lot less rich than they pretend to be). They very much hope for a friendly ruling from the IRS. That’s a big piece of why they got into presidential politics in the first place, and it’s certainly why they got involved with Little Mr. Lenin.
Of course they are acting out this extraordinarily Stalinesque little Kabuki of repudiation. Of course they are. The enemy of the president is their Seven Billion Dollar enemy. They would walk on his corpse if it inclined the president to look upon them with a kindly eye.

Does ““My family and I have not communicated with Steve Bannon in many months” mean that they stopped talking to him around September 15, 2017?
Because on September 15 the first reports that Mueller had obtained a search warrant for records of the inauthentic accounts Facebook were published.
