Perhaps Democrats should demand 100% funding for the The Wall™, with funding coming from a tax hike on the rich.
Then they can sit back and watch as Trump’s two disparate groups of supporters fight with one another.

They lost that during the healthcare fiasco, when he publicly and privately threatened HFC members and they told him to go pound sand…and he did.
Still,
“I think Trump’s backed off the wall,” said Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), who had dinner with the president Monday evening. “I got the sense that he’s not going to take this fight too far. He understands border security is important, but he’s not going to overplay his hand.”
That statement is kind of unnerving. Graham should know better than to put any credibility into anything Trump says, and yet…here he is falling for it again.
The big tell in this article, however is near the end (burying the lede?)
"Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) emerged from the lunch with Pence visibly frustrated. “This is, frankly, professional malpractice,” he told reporters. “We are seven months past last year’s fiscal end. We’re now talking about another week’s delay to figure out how to fund the federal government.”
That pretty much sounds like Ryan can only muster votes for a CR and/or doesn’t actually have an appropriations bill put together yet. They are kicking the can down the road…again.
And Perdue is implying a much better situation than it is. True, its been 7 months since last fiscal year’s end, but they have spent that entire time using CRs. Basically they passed a “framework” agreement before Ryan took office (he was the principal republican negotiating that), and have proceeded to fail on every procedural bullet point on that framework and are STILL using CRs for everything.
Perhaps Trump should do what his idiot voters thought he was gong to do, pay it from his own pocket, and then he can pass the hat an see much much he can recover.
Assign the child in your household the assignment of reading them out loud. It will increase her vocabulary hugely.
@daveyjones64 Disregarding who among the Rs said what, there’s this. It was predicted his campaign and/or his presidency would destroy the R party, and maybe this is what it looks like. Rats deserting a sinking ship comes to a mind as a metaphor, but it’s just beginning, and we don’t recognize it because it’s probably unprecedented. Or unpresidential.
In other words, play time ended and the adults cleaned up after the brat.
Pathetic that little Donnie needs a rally and another bag of Cheetos to feel good about himself.
Unfortunately, he’s a mini Trump, just with a seemingly quiet, reserved demeanor.
I think it is what it looks like, just in the early stages still. “Trumpism” isn’t an actual ideology, and its certainly not enough to paper over the schisms in the GOP. Its more like having a huge, gaping wound in your stomach and instead of using even a piece of tissue paper to put over it, you just imagine a band aid over it. The wound continues to get worse, and the GOP continues to bleed out.
Yeah…I saw that and was thinking the same thing.
Appropriation bills may originate in either house of Congress. Revenue bills must carry an H.R. marker.
“McConnell withheld any criticisms of Trump when asked about the White House’s involvement in negotiations, instead blaming Democrats for not being able to work with the administration”
That’s rich. So freakin’ rich.
Rolls eyes, waves hand in disgust. I can’t take it much longer.
Your quote is very much the pot calling the kettle black.
" I alone can fix it!"
( sorry, duplicate post!)
Sure. Act reasonable, then turn around and offer a far right deal. Blame the left for not being reasonable and rubber stamping it. I’ve seen this before.
Spicer: "During his first 100 days the president's made 68 calls with 38 different world leaders."

This is a bit off topic, but I’d like to get something off my chest:
Hey, Chiselin’ Trump! I sure hope that, while your AG is litigating your latest Muslim-banning EO, you haven’t given up on figuring out “what the hell is going on!” You’ve had some 90 days as president to figure it out. One would think that it would make for a great 100-day accomplishment, given how serious you pretend the problem to be. The great thing about it is, you don’t really need the ban to be in place in order to figure out “what the hell is going on!” So, you’ve probably already figured it out by now. If not, then I’d like to know “what the hell’s been going on!”
snicker snicker snicker
Josh is dry when he shoves that shiv in between the ribs. You might not know you just got kilt for a few minutes while you work it out.
hahahahahahaha
Well it’s simple enough why Ryan can’t get an appropriations bill passed. Most people are ideologically conservative and operationally liberal. They poll conservative when the questions are general and vague, but the more specific and well defined the issue, the more liberal their tax and spending priorities become. This has been true for several decades. Nobody thinks the government should take care of everything, but the list of exceptions keeps growing.
Paul Ryan’s intrinsic phoniness lies in his budget blueprints, which are far too conservative in theory to gain even a plurality of Republicans’ support in practice. There’s no money left for nothing or other, and not even most Republicans want to cut that deeply.
That’s why Ryan was golden when the votes didn’t count. Now that they do, he’s got the Midas touch. Nobody is more pissed off than the Freedom Caucus: ideological conservatives who’re operational conservatives too. They felt used and betrayed to the point of defeating Eric Cantor and electing Donald Trump. I can hardly wait to see their faces when they figure out The Rump has sold them a bill of goods, as well.
