Thing is, itā€™s not enough of a surprise to rate a new article, or to actually, you know, surprise anyone.

He offered the VP candidates the unprecedented opportunity to do the work of the President while he galavanted about making America. Great. Again.

ā€œBorges responded Saturday with a statement that he would continue working to elect Republican candidates up and down the ballot including the Trump campaign.ā€

This is probably getting more press coverage now, but a while back there was a very plausible theory floated as to why Drumpf is so clearly sabotaging his own campaign: He has no intention of winning and is instead focused on building a base of consumers/viewers/followers who will gladly tune in to his soon-to-be-launched ā€œNationalist News Networkā€. That actually makes perfect sense; Drumpf is clearly not trying to win the election and has demonstrated that the more outrageous and politically incorrect he is, the more his base froths at the mouth and begs for more. He appeals to the bigot/racist/misogynist/xenophobe/homophobe market and will ā€œOutFox Foxā€. Drumpf proves every day that he is an entirely unserious candidate; heā€™s a Barnum and Bailey type of circus promoter, however. So, us libs/progs must bask in the glow of knowing HRC is our next POTUS and that Drumpf will run off to his TV network to whine about how the election was rigged and that everyone in the world (except him) is out to harm ā€œthe workinā€™ manā€. Itā€™s truly an amazing display of Orwellian mechanics. Democrats really need to focus on winning back the Senate, so letā€™s keep up the enthusiasm, encourage friends/family to register and then vote, and generally stay positive. This election will usher in decades of progressive/liberal majorities and Iā€™m damn glad to have lived long enough to see it!

The Clinton campaign has outplayed him so badly . They have set him off on numerous occasions and his 2 minute attention span and short fuse is so easy to manipulate .He spends all his time on defense
He gets accused by women and says theyā€™re too ugly for him to have hit on implying if they were better lookingā€¦
He is so fucking shallow and stupid he makes it easy

their ā€˜strategyā€™ fits well in regards to the parameters of amateur hour.

Thatā€™s a very tidy theory and explains a great deal, but itā€™s kind of premised on his not being nuts. Me, I couldnā€™t help thinking of the X-Files. Scully always thought there had to be a rational explanation for the bizarre phenomenon they were investigating that week, where Mulder was more willing to accept and embrace the bizarreness. Iā€™m on the Mulder side of this one. Trump has destroyed every business heā€™s been in, failed at everything heā€™s ever done. Heā€™s simply nuts, and not very bright. That theoryā€™s harder to believe, I know.

The only other possible thing that makes sense in the face of all this madness is that a couple years ago Trump sat down for cocktails with Hill & Bill and says, ā€œLook, we all know that you Hill are going to get the nod from our side but what about the other? Too much of an unknown and Iā€™ve got an idea. Supposing I run and pull a Willie Stark and get all the crazies worked up. I mean really worked up. Forget Willie, weā€™re talking Lonesome Rhodes worked up. Iā€™ve already done it with The Apprentice, I know how to handle these people and the media. Just watch. Itā€™ll be a two-fer; you will end up a shoo-in for the first female Prez in history, you Bill will be back in the White House and I will ride the publicity gravy train all the way into my own network news show thatā€™ll keep me in ratings heaven for the rest of my life. Oh, and by the time Iā€™m through stirring up all the crazies the Republican Party will be in shreds for at least two generations. I know how to do this, you know it, and you know that as long as there is an Ā® next to my name thatā€™s all the Kool-Aid that matters. Whaddaya say?!ā€

Think about it. What has transpired could not have been any better than if Trump were a deliberate saboteur. Itā€™s just what you would expect if he were a deliberate saboteur. If Iā€™m a thinking GOPer (I knowā€“major straight line), I really need to wonder if this whole thing was a frame-up.

Three months from now, Ted Cruz will likely be thinking the same thing.
