The family had a lot of buffers.

Either Rudy is crazy-like-a-fox or just crazy.

Not worth arguing about, but (GoodFellas. barbecue gardenparty) when people wanted favours from Paulie (?) they asked a middleman, who walked over to Paulie, whispered in his ear, got a nod, returned back with an answer “So Paulie could deny ever having talked with person X about Y”.

how many Rudy-appearances are we away from “Yeah, it was collusion, but when the president might have once did it before he was president, it’s not a crime.”

And of course, the notion that as of the morning after Election Day, Trump suddenly had no further interest in the fate of one of his most cherished business dreams, a Trump Tower in Moscow (where his “taste” would probably have gone over pretty well), is laughable.

I’ve long thought that Putin’s hold over Trump has nothing to do with some sort of sex tape. That would presume that Trump is capable of shame, and he clearly isn’t. I think that what Putin is holding is the end of a financial thread which, if pulled hard, would unravel the entire Trump Organization house of cards. The T.O. may not technically be a Ponzi scheme, but I suspect that it’s technically insolvent.

This a huge walk back from “I have nothing to do with Russia” and accusing Hillary of being Russia’s “puppet”.

Everything he said during the campaign about wanting better ties with Russia, being able to get along with Putin, and even asking Russia to release Hillary’s e-mails is thrust into a new light. The 2016 election was an exercise in fraud perpetrated on the American people, as its information we had every right to know. It’s a very small walk now for Guliani to admit the Trump campaign coordinated the hacking of e-mails and targeting of certain states and regions with Russia.

It’s crazy. Mueller has maintained a Sphinx-like silence, but is still able to make the Trumpers throw themselves under the bus. And while Buzzfeed may have been wrong in certain aspects, they appear to have driven this confession today. I think it’s pretty significant.

I clearly think the argument boils down to if he did it before he took office it’s not a crime because he was not a US official, and if he did it after he took office it is not a crime because he is the President and the President can’t commit crimes. Am I following this?

I shoulds’ been a lawyer.

What I like best about this is that the SC investigation was never about collusion. The DOJ mission statement was to investigate Russian interference in the U.S. elections and to prosecute crimes uncovered along the way. Full stop.

Spanky immediately began howling “No Collusion!”. As I’ve mentioned before, this is like someone being stopped for a routine traffic violation who then begins saying over and over, “There’s nothing in the trunk! No need to check the trunk because there’s nothing in the trunk!”

Combined with the evidence that Manafort was sending data to Russia, we now have a full-on sketch of the collusion that was in the trunk.

  • Obligation to Russia created through promises of a Trump Monument in Moscow
  • Data sent to Russia to help with the campaign
  • Campaign brings in Russians to RNC convention
  • RNC changes its platform regarding the Ukraine
  • Russia comes through for Candidate Trump, winning him the election while also sprinkling money on the RNC

Apparently, some would have us believe that it is okay to sell out the country, as long as you do it early enough in the process.

Because Donald Trump lies all the time about everything.

Trump is arguing that he doesn’t have to answer Mueller’s question about what happened once he was elected President. He is claiming executive privilege at that point, even though he wasn’t sworn in until January. Why is he claiming executive privilege before he was President?

How does Rude Dee Jewel Ee Ahni not face malpractice charges? He’s the worst attorney (other than Cohen) I’ve ever seen. The guy is the loosest cannon to ever shoot off his mouth. With attorneys like him, who needs prosecutors?

We will soon learn that the back channel that Flynn and Kushner wanted to establish right after the election was for communications about this deal.
