Discussion: Giuliani All In On Claims Trump Was ‘Surprised’ By Cohen Access-Peddling

“Surprised” is the best Giuliani can do? I’m sure it will become “shocked” on the next roll-out.

In other words…

“Trump knew all about, but I’m pretty sure someone will believe this lie”

I don’t think Rudy did Cohen any favors by referring to his “lobbying.” I’d say that unlike all the others who’ve been thrown under the bus by Trump, Cohen is not being thrown, but being pushed, an inch at a time. They’re hoping he won’t notice and keep thinking about a pardon.

No pardon if convicted in the SDNY.

So utter incompetence is supposed to be better than evil conspiring? In what other realm would Trump keep his job if either scenario is true?

This is a interesting development, the main question for the Pestilent’s team is how to disassociate from Cohen without him flipping. If they outright throw him under the bus, the feds might convince him to cooperate against Trump. Pardoning or even defending Cohen is probably out of the question because everybody would believe that Trump had sanctioned Cohen activities. Whacking him would be even the worse as everybody and even Alex Jones would see a conspiracy to break the link between the Russians and Trump. Putin must be really tempted to have Cohen poisoned just to make Trump lose whatever few screws are still holding on.

Giuliani, you just need to stop your lying!

Trump is the biggest con artist in America!

Lordy, I think there are tapes, Rudy!

Wow, Rudy, I didn’t even know anyone was trying to implicate the President in this newest scandal.

So why are you already defending him?

Surprised? What until he sees what jumps out of the cake and his Muellerday Party.

"an attorney” who did very little actual legal work for him.

I think you’ll find most of his actual “work” is off the books.

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—The independent counsel, Robert Mueller, told reporters that, prior to news reports on Thursday, he had “almost forgotten” to investigate the former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

“Like most Americans, I had totally forgotten about Rudy Giuliani’s existence,” he said. “But then when he popped up on the news I was, like, ‘Hold on—shouldn’t we be investigating him?’ ”

Mueller was at a loss to explain why he had failed to investigate Giuliani earlier. “I have no idea how it could have slipped my mind,” he said. “His role in Trump’s campaign was as fishy as all get-out.”

He said that other members of his team were “poking fun” at him for not deciding to investigate Giuliani before Thursday. “I mean, think about it: how do you do a criminal investigation of the Trump campaign and leave Rudy out of it?” he said. “I’ve got to say, I’m pretty darn embarrassed about the whole thing.”

When asked for an estimate of when the Russia inquiry might wrap up, Mueller responded, “I honestly can’t say. I was hoping to bring it to a close in the next month or two, but now that we’re also investigating Rudy Giuliani, God only knows how long it’ll take.”

Not true.

SDNY is a FEDERAL office. Theirs would be federal indictments.

It is the NY-AG who would indict on pardon-safe state charges.

Surprise is actually a great legal gambit. If you build your house next to an active volcano and it erupts, you tell the insurer “Who could have foreseen such a thing? Complete surprise.” Well known from the Bhopal defense, which got the “surprised” Union Carbide a fine of just $10,000 plus about $15,000 for its negligent execs. Thank you very much!
