We’re starting to see/realize the extent of mentally ill people who are politicians. Seriously. Pyschopaths, narcissists, sociopaths, it’s all on the spectrum. No empathy, a craving for any and all attention, an utter disregard for the truth and of course, power at any cost. I guess people like this have always been attracted to politics, but, as we know, they did abide by some unwritten rules.
And their “followers” have just been waiting to act out since that Kenyan was elected. Pretty goddamn scary.
This is a man who exploited the tragedy and blamed it on Democrats the case of a demented mother from South Carolina who drowned her children.
The irony was her Christian Coalition member father had abused her as a child.
I remember that YOU began the wholesale demonization of your political opponents with your “Contract on America”. It was you, your House spawn and the advent of Fox News that began the destruction of civility, comity and compromise. This is your offspring, Newt. I’m sure your chortling and rubbing your hands in villainous glee, safe in your Vatican hidey hole.
I would say that it is newsworthy in so far as you’ve got the Huckster saying that Rump wants peace and civility and blah blah blah but Rump’s surrogates outside the regime are saying that the MSM brought this on themselves.

No doubt. And long before we even dreamed Trump would go into politics, it was really clear that Gingrich was a mediocre mind suffering from pathological grandiosity. I’d argue his biggest fault wasn’t that, but rather his transforming GOP communications into constant demonizing propaganda about how the Democrats were against America and the west. (Newt thought he would be the western world’s savior.)
You know, I’ve never seen it explicitly argued, but you could make a case that Trump has succeeded, to the extent he has, because of and not despite his mental illness. Explains a lot, and reconciles some seeming conflicts.
After 45 years in the workforce I can say a helluva lot of the people on the upper rungs of various corporations I’ve toiled away for are demented assholes. Once a few demented assholes get in a position of power they recruit other demented assholes to work for them. It’s a vicious cycle. It becomes a running contest betwen all of them to see what cruel, ill-advised bullshit they can foist upon the workforce.
So, like a school yard bully, Newt has twisted our arm up and smacked us in the face with it, chanting “stop hitting yourself, why are you hitting yourself?”
