Discussion for article #230593
…when women lead, good things happen.
Anybody got any idea what percentage of board seats in America are filled by women? How far ahead of us is Europe?
Wow, this is almost a caricature of the fact that Europe’s mainstream left-right spectrum and ours sure aren’t in the same place on the political continuum. (Not to mention labor, climate, social services,etc.,etc.) Sigh.
I believe in Norway 50% of corporate directors must be female. Personally, I can’t wait for the oncoming matriarchy. Us guys have been screwing shit up far too long.
Plus, they have Frank in Lilyhammer!
Because European countries have had much more exposure to many varied types of governments and economic systems. So they are willing to pick and choose.
We on the other hand are so fully committed to representative democracy and capitalism, that even mentioning any other ideas is reason enough to be banned from society.
Yup. And not just representative democracy and capitalism, but insanely unfettered capitalism and a democracy wherein over time the representation has become increasingly skewed towards geographic and ideological minorities, with the design of the system giving those minorities effective veto power over any change that would make that system more democratic. Sigh…
The analogy I like to use is:
If you walk in a healthy forest, you will see a wide variety of flora and fauna there, as diversity is sort of a hall mark of such a place.
Then take a walk in one of those pine “forests” in North Florida. Perfect rows of pine trees and not a single sound or other thing growing anywhere. No birds, no animals…and only one tree.
That is sort of how we are…one tree. While Europe is more the healthy diverse forest.
The point is, diversity is preferred in nature, and the thinking going, it would prevail in human endeavors as well.
