I am wondering whether the NRA will attack this distraught father like the attacked the distraught father in the Santa Barbara shootings. Or do they only attack distraught fathers not involved in the shooting?

For any conservatives reading this thread, you can calm down. This kid wasnāt killed in the womb or in Benghazi, so youāre off the hook in terms of having to give a shit about his death.

It all depends on whether or not Father of the Year blames the gun culture in any way.
Rule #1:
Do not take firearms on a fishing trip.
I feel for the grieving Dad, but this was an unnecessary tragedy.
Except the child would be traumatized for life. This way itās the perp who suffers the trauma.

I think Iād rather the kid be the survivor, with an important lesson learned in an very unpleasant way.
If they all shot each other weād have a lot less stupid people in this world.
The obvious thing police will check on is if there was any motive for a killing, like recently acquired life insurance on the deceased. That has happened in parent-child killings and husband-wife killings, but I doubt it in this case.
Okay, they thought they might see a wild hog, are hogs known to frequent this particular boat landing or did dad prematurely load the gun? Funny thing about unloaded guns, well TRULY unloaded guns, they never kill anyone. Dad knows this now, but it bears repeating, Donāt load the damn thing until you need to.

Actually there are different rules for that and you would be prosecuted. I canāt remember the exact language in the laws (in general), but the idea is that itās hard to imagine any other intent BUT to shoot someone when you set up such a device. I wish I could remember the exact languageā¦
You canāt assume it was an accident. It could easily have been murder. The father could be a great actor.
People who donāt secure their weapons do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.
The only operative word here is āgrossā. For example: People with guns are gross

They say they had a gun along on the fishing trip in case a wild boar swam by them on the creek. Did these Georgians also have a coil of rope on the off chance an African American swam by them too?
OK, so I load a rifle, take off the safety, put it over my shoulder, and walk down the street - never know when youāll see a coyote, you know.

The difference between what I was doing (having a rifle ready to go just in case I needed it on a momentās notice, possibly pointed at someone when their body intersects my line of fire) and what this guy was doing is what, exactly? As long as I donāt have a life insurance policy on the person unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time itās an āaccidentā?

Yes, the article said the father was so distraught. My heart and thoughts for healing for those suffering from this horrible tragedy.

I believe the father shot the kid when he found out he was sleeping with his mother and probably satisfied her more. When in Georgia
Iām sure Joe the Plumber feels for this father as well.
Anyone else keeping count of the fairly obvious Gun Fail in this country? No one should forget that apparently that work was originally done by the CDC and was blocked from continuing by just about ***all ***Republicans in Congress. Those politicians shut down that work done by the CDC in order to do the bidding of their masters in the NRA?
President Obama in 2013 made an executive order to restore some of those studies by the CDC on gun violence. We need more than that to fully understand the disastrous anti-science, pro-NRA tactics that are enabling the ever-present onslaught of gun violence. Mr. Martinez had it right. Politicians that kowtow to the gun industry such as the NRA, are largely to blame for not watching out for our children and our society at large. So much more can and should be done to deal with guns in American society. It all makes me sick to my stomach how devolved our country has become by the efforts of these fucking gun nuts.

Again: NEGLIGENTLY shot and killed!
There is no such thing as an accidental shooting.
And that lever-action 30-30 in the picture, is especially dangerous after cocking the lever. To put the safety on, you have to release the trigger and manually ease the hammer down gently, and then click it back halfway. Itās not a good rifle to be loaded or unloaded around any sort of vehicle.
