It’s kind of amazing that—even accepting for the sake of the argument that BLM members are criminals—apparently all that it takes for them to be converted into terrorists is that they’re not white.

“Domestic terrorists” seems to be a harsh overreaction to people who are mostly asking that they not be gunned down for no reason. But that’s how it is when the wing-nut rhetoric volume knob is glued to 11.

If these police officers spent even 10% of the energy and time they’ve spent on vilifying BLM et al on actually getting rid of the festering rotted feces-laden vermin amongst them that are out there assaulting and killing people without provocation or justification, the world might be a better place.
I have a lot of respect for good ethical cops. I have no respect for unethical ones, and even less for the silent ones who toe the blue line and don’t weed out the rot.

I feel the same. Every profession has people who are in it for the wrong reasons, and it’s natural that as a group you tend to protect each other to some extent. But Jesus Christ, you can’t take tribal loyalty to the point that you tolerate people being beaten up and killed. It’s a tough job, I’ll give them that, but maybe part of it is to keep your humanity intact and not become an animal and if you can’t you have to go.

What is most interesting - and most disgusting - to me, is that most of the stories that have hit the news there is already an existing record of abuse, violence, racism, etc. with many of the cops involved. And they are still out there. In some cases, have been out there repeatedly. If that’s not Exhibit A of ignoring the rot that exists, I don’t know what is.
I know a lot of retired cops. I’ve talked to a few of them. One or two are completely disgusted by this…but there are a couple that are so rabidly “Blue Line” that even mentioning to them that it’s not treason to want to keep your profession clean and ethically on side is just ABSOLUTELY not going to be listened to. To those ones, cops are never in the wrong and the person they are attacking is always the thug who deserves everything they get. They consider deaths like the ones we have read about in the news collateral damage. They don’t even see these people as human.
When training for police forces switched from protecting and serving to by any means necessary, you’ve lost sight of the reason why you were respected in the first place. Just a personal opinion.
