His own party is blocking federal immigration reform, but he exhorts an outside advocacy group to ‘keep pushing’ for the reform he doesn’t want. And the reform would not address state issues like higher education admissions, indicating he both disagrees with the activists position, but lacks the balls to say so publicly.

In addition to the possible ethnic stereotyping, also on display is the Rep habit of only supporting things that directly benefit them and their families (see the string of right wing politicos who reversed themselves on gay marriage after a family member came out to them). It’s likely he assumed they were Dreamers because he cannot fathom altruism.
