Few things please me as much as the fact that George W. Bush rarely shows his face in public.

Related: Refusing to vote for anyone is cowardice. Someone is going to be elected President tonight. Itā€™s shameful for a former President to shirk his responsibility as a citizen in refusing to vote for anyone at all.

Then again, I guess one should consider the source.

In what sounded a lot like scapegoating in the event of a loss, Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway suggested her candidate was hurt by not having the full weight of the Republican establishment behind him.

On MSNBC, Conway told Chuck Todd that if Trump loses narrowly it would be ā€œtoo badā€ that ā€œwe have former presidents not voting for us, former nominees not voting for us.ā€

ā€œThatā€™s got to hurt,ā€ she said, according to the exchange reported by the Wall Street Journal. ā€œWhen you talk about growing the party, the idea was growing it, but having that base together.ā€

Itā€™s amusing. The HO campaign spent months denouncing the Republican ā€œelite,ā€ and discovered, a day or two before the election, that they actually need the ā€œeliteā€ establishment vote to win.

May be shallow, but I think that being snubbed is one of the reasons HO is the way he is. A loudmouth from Queens who isnā€™t accepted by Manhattan business/ social society. Being snubbed and blackballed is the best way to deal with him, since it bothers him so.

Always thought Bush was smarter than his aw-shucks image. Heā€™s gotta know that Trump is, win or lose, the result of his own failures as POTUS. It probably hurts, too. Considering how I hated this President in the '00s, Iā€™m surprised how little that pleases me at this point. Probably because Cheney is the worse, and will never receive the the public shaming that the Bush family has taken this year. Cheney will just say, ā€œSo?ā€
