Bigots make life for gays and others hell. Ideally a “turn the other cheek” philosophy is a person’s reaction. However, this accomplishes nothing as to changing the bigot’s habits. Hopefully some intrepid sleuths will discover the parent’s identity and publicize it (after a very thorough vetting and assurance they’ve pegged the correct culprit). Then let the games begin.

I don’t know about Jeebus, but I doubt that Jesus would call for unleashing internet and neighborhood hell on the parent.
There is a conflict in progress within the catholic church, between the modernists who somehow got Francis into the first chair, and the reactionary bureaucracy. Francis promotes the theologies of liberation that grew out of his Latin American church, which he logically extends to others who have been rejected.
Against him is an enormous overhang of pedophile-hiding reactionaries, installed by the retired Ratzinger and his equally horrid predecessor, who will be canonized and sanctified as a bone to the old way.
The American bishopric, led by the Ratzinger stooge Cardinal Dolan of New York, will fight the whole way down. But the people of the catholic church, such as the mass of parochial-school parents who are winning their fight with the closetophile homophobe archbishop of San Francisco, know that their pope is on their side, and the old crossdressers who wield the church bureaucracy and treasury against them will, ultimately, kiss the ring of their infallible prelate.
I’m sorry. I have no patience with people who claim to be Catholic and yet continually engage in the “Catholic Sins” of contraception and leading a gay lifestyle.
I have nothing against them but wouldn’t it be better if these people were honest and left the Church. They’re like Log Cabin Republicans.
In case I’ve given the wrong impression, my problem is with the RC Church.
I know I’ll regret writing this when I get a lot of flack but I apologize to anyone I have offended.

I have no patience period for any group who has a problem with someone being gay. Why do they care. I can see no negative affect on my life if someone is gay or straight. I care more of what kind of person they are rather than what they are. Now, having said that, I have a problem with right wing fundamentalist christian republicans because they do have a affect on people’s lives by trying to impose and insinuate themselves in people’s private lives.

I went to an all-male, Catholic high school in the last '60s/early '70s, a school run by the Holy Cross Brothers. If every gay teacher had been fired from my high school, the school would have needed to shut it doors. This woman just had the courage to be open about her sexuality.
