I understood – you were thinking that someone targeted the Muslim population in the building. You’re not the only one who had that thought, and what I meant is that I’m sure the London authorities are looking into that possibility.
What @mrf said.
After that, they all go out for poutine and beer!
The GOP and the Russkies can no longer be trusted with data.
Let’s start voting by homing pigeon.
No need for him to “learn to count” – that’s what we have electronic voting systems for. People vote, machines do the counting, no human error possible. What could possibly go wrong?
I had the same question. There were so many women wearing Muslim headgear being interviewed on the news, it made me think the building must have been in a predominately Muslim neighborhood, or perhaps just the building was where a large percentage of Muslim families lived. If that is the case (and not just the appearance) then I want to know if this is being investigated as a crime against a certain segment of the population.
Broce said that the secretary of state “remains confident in Georgia’s
elections systems and voting equipment,” citing a county judge’s recent
decision in a case concerning the state’s voting system.
Oh, for fux sake.
These are the same people who hyperventilate over [those] people walking together from church to a polling place.
These are the same people who think that undocumented immigrants by the millions are so motivated to cast illegal votes that they put their name and address on open government records and then show picture ID to a witness at the polling place before committing the crime of voting.
And now, they base the integrity of the voting system on a county judge who made a decision that wasn’t based on an examination of the integrity of the voting system.
I’m shoc tired of this bullshit.
Makes me think of a variation on an old saw: “To err is human; to really f*** things up requires a computer.”
I’ve been suspicious about the Georgia system since Max Cleland’s loss in 2002.
There is a huge difference between counting 20 million votes and counting 160 million votes.
10 years? The security hole has existed for so long that it is now essentially a public (or Russian) easement. Sorry, can’t be fixed!
No need to hack Diebold machines, they’re already programmed to ensure Republican victories.
Every county should downgrade to offline solutions. You can’t do The Cyber on paper and pen.
Is this the same Republican Party who launched a 16 year jihad against anyone of Middle Eastern heritage, except the actual perpetrators, because Republicans ignored a warning that bin Laden was going to attack?
We lost thousands of people and expensive national assets.
Now Republicans are turning a blind eye to the technological equivalent of Pearl Harbor, launched by a Russian intelligence against most democratic societies on the face of the earth, and the Republican response is that they think Russia is a country we can deal with??
No wonder Trump is siding with Putin!
Can the voters bring in their own paper ballots? Like how one can always hand write a check if need be? I know that wouldn’t prevent the election from being fixed since enough people would still vote electronically to allow the election to be tipped, but it would at least constitute a tangible protest. Can a third party print out ballots for use, along those lines?
Clearly the institution has been occupied by a foreign power and/or moron racists. As Americans we need to fight back somehow.
“You’re asking if we ever ‘responded’ to a report/study that was done more than 10 years ago?” Simms asked in response, per the Post. “Doesn’t make sense to me.”
It makes perfect sense to everyone else, you dumbass. No wonder Price was able to win with his margins.
Wow.
I was reminded of that, too.
Perhaps, as the fallout from the UK snap election sinks in, they (unlike us) actually learn from the failure and do something about it.
Good point.
Why not do the whole election by mail, and with postage-paid return envelopes?
Elections systems should just forgo computers and take the extra days to count the ballots accurately by hand. There’s no reason we have to know the outcome before midnight Eastern time. Frankly, if we added up all the effort, cost and drama related to IT, cybersecurity, hacking, and potential for corruption, I don’t believe the labor-saving technology is really saving any labor.
The building was recently renovated and a poor choice of cladding system was used, a flammable system that is banned for use in many countries (including the U.S.) as unsafe. I think it’s in this article where they note it will act like a chimney if there are any breaches such as vents or pipes. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jun/15/experts-warned-government-against-cladding-material-used-on-grenfell?CMP=share_btn_tw
