Discussion: French Prosecutors: Suspected Mastermind Of Paris Attacks Killed In Police Raid

Discussion for article #243006

How about we leave out the “Mastermind” attached moniker for this jackass.

As Lawrence O’Donnell said last night on his show…this person is no mastermind. The media has already elevated people like this with that kind of talk. He is nothing more than a cold-blooded killer and he needs to be referred to as such. Perhaps he is the architect of this attack, but it doesn’t take a great thinker to send people to their death by committing mass murder, especially if its for an sick ideology, religious or otherwise.

“Killer” would suffice.

Looks like he won’t be able to take his brothers advice and surrender, what a…shame…

Most other media outlets are referring to him as “ringleader”, a much better term. There was no masterminding, most of their plan was actually foiled, they wanted to do major damage in the stadium. By definition “mastermind” refers to ingenious and complex schemes. It does not take a “mastermind” to get some weapons and kill people. Even KSM, it really was not brilliant to figure out that a plane going across the country would have a lot of fuel and make a bigger explosion and fire, or that protocol in hijackings at that time was to turn over control of the plane to hijackers in an unsafe situation. KSM planned most of it, but he was not a mastermind.

Some elaborate jewelry heists that have been done over the years, one could classify planners of those as “masterminds”.

French authorities declared a state of emergency after the attacks, and
security forces have conducted 414 raids, making 60 arrests and seizing
75 weapons, including 11 military-style firearms, the Interior Ministry
said. Parliament was expected to vote by the end of the week to extend
the state of emergency.

And in the USA 150+ have died since than from gun homicides. I can’t wait for congress to demand, DEMAND action on this atrocity.

Bravo.

“”“It contained a text message sent about 20 minutes after the massacre began. “We’re off, it’s started,” it read.
Molins said investigators were still trying to identify the recipient of the message.”""

Well after announcing to the world what you have and what you want…you aren’t likely to get much.

Suspected militant and Belgian militant are also being used. Mastermind? Never. But I like this description

Mr. Abaaoud’s body was heavily riddled with wounds from gunfire and a grenade detonated during the raid. “

I hope he had an ah shit moment!

All of the conservative bed-wetting over this incident is indicative of their mind set in several ways.

  1. They are terribly fearful all of the time. Thus, their desire to arm everyone all of the time in every location, and their first instinct is to drop a bomb.

  2. They are totally distrustful of anyone at all who is different in any way. Different religions, different nationality, different customs, different political stances all indicate to them that “the others” are out to get them. They think that someone who speaks another language is a suspect at all times. They grant humanity to no one but themselves.

  3. They totally distrust all of their fellow Americans in government. They assume that the government is working to undermine them and their safety, and award all benefits to “the others”. They never believe that government workers are just like them, trying to do their jobs and sometimes doing it well and sometimes not.

  4. They seek 100% security at all times, and are willing to abandon every principle that the country holds dear to achieve this mythical state of safety. Total secret surveillance is OK. Total uncontrolled policing is OK. Massacre’s are OK if they are used on “the others”. They never uphold the Bill of Rights when it is most necessary.

They are all authoritarian cowards with no principles except those of self-interest.

I am including all of this in my response to your post, because its repetition just may be the spark to get Reince Priebus to codify it as a requirement for GOP candidates.

Rhetorical question–

What are female ’ martyrs’ promised in the after-life…
or are they miraculously turned into virgins to satisfy the male martyrs?

…reminiscent of GroverDorquist.

I suspect that if there is a God that Mr Abaaoud and his friends that died at Paris are having a very bad day right about now.

You have the relatives mixed up (easy to do in this situation I expect)… . Mr Abaaoud was the so called ringleader. he is apparently dead. Good. The fellow who got stopped and then let go (also involved in the horrible actions on Friday) has a brother who has asked that he surrender. As far as I am aware he hasn’t been caught yet… And It looks like he was not at the raid gunfight.

Imagine how many firearms would have been found in 414 raids on suspected American terrorist hangouts!

Perhaps not having to service the male martyrs?

You seem to assume it would be a compassionate, ethical entity.

:grinning:
I have no way of knowing.

It may have topped 10,000.
